Can someone enlighten me as to why Mark Udall was vulnerable in CO?

I live in New Mexico where Mark's cousin Tom Udall is very popular. I tried to find some info on this but there isn't much out there. This just doesn't make sense to me.

Udall is a good, reasonable guy, it's a shame--but the state has been trending red for the last couple years, so it's plausible they wouldn't be able to keep two Dem Senators plus a Dem Gov forever.

as a result of the decision not to do squat on immigration until after the midterms, in an attempt to save Pryor, Landrieu, and some other red state Senator, all of whom went down in flames anyway. So Udall was just collateral damage on that bit of political cowardice.

If I can generalize, they work too damn hard to really care about politics.

I can't even remember which talking head on MSNBC was saying that about the Udall race now anyway. They could have been pulling that bit of analysis out of thin air for all I know.

The political argument shows are even worse than the stock pickers. None of them know what they are talking about. They flatter the audience but it is worse than nonsense.

Who was a chameleon on the issues. He is extreme right wing, was the author of the Personhood Amendment, but he sold himself to the people of Colorado as a moderate, supportive of green energy, that could get things done in Washington. He smiled and fooled the voters. Udall was always so dour and serious, but I'm sure he had a friendly side, and he came across not that well on TV.

I could not believe how good Gardner looked on television while lying through his teeth the entire time... I watched him in an interview on one of the local channels and they asked him about his writing the personhood and how that would translate if he was elected... And he just plain lied. The fucker had commercials about how he did not support his own amendment 'as a politician', 'just a citizen'... WTF is that?

People fell for his bullshit and I think there are going to be a lot of people sorry they did.

Most of his approved ads were about abortion and women's rights. I guess he was banking on the women's vote but they didn't turn out like expected. Only the conservative white women came out and they don't give two shits about women's rights if abortion is mixed in anywhere.

But then the personhood amendment went down in flames which Cory Gardner has sponsored on more that one occasion. A very conflicted and strange election in this state.

The Colorado Legislature enacted good, common sense gun and ammo control laws after the Aurora movie theater shooting, and the entire ammosexual part of this state went batshit. I'm surprised the Hick survived, honestly.

with state senator recalls and that hurt him. Interesting that either some Dems voted for him and not Udall, or some Repubs crossed over to vote for him, not sure which.
