With Republicans in control of Congress, is Obamacare in peril?

With Republicans in control of both the U.S. House and Senate, they may be emboldened to try to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, Modern Healthcare reports.

Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, who is "poised to become Senate majority leader, has vowed to repeal Obamacare 'root and branch,'" writes Modern Healthcare's Paul Demko.

More than 800 different TV ads aired during the election cycle referenced Obamacare, and almost all attack ads by Republicans, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Despite all that, health reform wasn't the dominant issue for many voters. As the New York Times reports, states that benefited most from Obamacare elected Republicans. Arkansas, Kentucky and West Virginia all saw substantial drops in the uninsured and elected Senators who oppose the ACA.

There could be a public outcry if Republicans try to take away people's benefits. About 15 million Americans signed up for coverage through the exchanges or enrolled in Medicaid under the expansion.

"Survey after survey shows that it's working, that Americans like it," said Sen. Jeff Merkley, an Oregon Democrat — one of few national Senate Dems who won their races — at a Wednesday news conference.

"In Oregon alone, it's provided health insurance for 350,000 people who didn't have it before. Everyone has gained something from the Affordable Care Act and from all the new health coverage. I don't think it will be easy to do anything to the ACA," he said.

VETO and are ok with.

Then they are going to rip it apart and send bills of individual items that are not liked by the American public like the medical supplies tax on businesses, the individual mandate, the ability of individuals not able to keep their doctor and other things.....

How will this work out? Who knows.....

But he'll probably end up watering it down in the name of "bipartisanship."

Today in the OR, the neuro-surgeon who whined about Obamacare and is
Hard core 'R' said that ACA doesn't need to go away...it just needs a few
Tweaks! Rolled my eyes at the anesthetist who whispered to me that the crybaby
Docs lobbyists will never let it be repealed cuz it is keeping the patients and
Money rolling in!

try this, people whom get the subsides will end up getting it added to the tax bills. You know damn well we are going to get hit big time with tax increases to cover the losses from all the Corporate Tax breaks that are coming. Heard a story late last night saying McCain wants the Sequester repealed ASAP. Watch for it sounds like a done deal just blow up the deficits. Another little spiel coming out of the Chamber Of Commerce since they beat the shit out of Obama, increases if property taxes in most states to fix the School Systems and forcing the so called CORE curriculum down every state. Might be the spark we need to fuel a full blown change in sixteen.
