Denton, Texas banned fracking

I couldn't be more excited to share with you some excellent news: Denton, Texas voted to ban fracking!

For months I've been telling you about what I hoped would be the first city in Texas to ban fracking, and now it's a reality.

And it’s thanks to people coming together from different places: Republicans and Democrats (vast majority of Denton voters were Republican); old and young (average age of voters was 52, despite Denton being a college town). But in a 20 point landslide they agreed that fracking does not belong within Denton city limits.

Thank you for your unwavering support, you made a huge difference.

They were outspent at least 10:1, but you stood by the people of Denton and helped them win.

Industry has vowed to sue the city and I don't doubt they will, but for now I hope you'll join me in saluting the people of Denton, you and the 50,000+ Earthworks supporters like you, and the power of the people.

Thank you!

On the downside, Youngstown OH, already overrun with fracking & fracking waste has rejected a ban for the 4th time. Idiots.

I'm in North Richland Hills. There have been sites going up here for several years. TCC campus on Hwy 26 has apparently just leased some of their land to a fracking company...big ugly walls have been erected. We are surrounded by the drilling sites here. I don't drink water anymore.
