Yeah, we Democrats fucked up in the very usual ways, but the real reason things went this way:

Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United, Citizens United.

It might well be on the tombstone of this grand experiment called the United States of America.

And their refusal to vote if the Democratic candidates aren't in favor of their one, specific, much-beloved ridiculous issue. Democratic voters are BRILLIANT at shooting themselves in the foot.

Meanwhile, Republicans are using their brains - they vote for their candidates first, and worry about the small details later. And THAT is why Republicans keep getting elected.

I've heard just about enough BS from Democrats who say, "OH, Democratic candidate such-and-such isn't doing what I like best, so I'm not going to vote." I'm really getting sick of Democratic voters. Their stupid behavior is much too infantile for me to tolerate.

And Citizens United was why unions could pour money into issue ads. It's not as simple as people make it out to be.

I get that's a painful reality to have to accept. It's hitting me like a fist to my gut if anyone cares. I wish it were something else. It would make all this much easier to process, but the truth is, we (Democrats) stayed home, we (Democrats) gave it to them on a silver platter with our apathy. We deserve our next two years, it's what we chose.

We can't dress this up into something it's not, we handed this to them all wrapped up in a pretty package. American's take Democracy for granted and we deserve what we're (collectively, now those of us who worked toward getting the vote out and voted) going to get.

I'm very disappointed in our "someone else will pick up the slack it's going to be fine, I'm too, conflicted, apathetic, lazy to do anything about the society we live in right now" attitude. If you wanted a third party, this was your chance to get off your ass and work toward one. Get your voters on board and to the polls and change something. It's not as if there were a lot of other voters at the polls this round. But, it's hard work to actually motivate voters to get their lazy asses out to DO something. Which is the real reason why our system is what it is. We are a bunch of lazy complainers who expect someone else to do all the real work, while we sit back and be smug if something happens to go our way because a lot of other people worked their asses off to make it happen.

By and large this election cycle, American's who made the claim they want to rock the boat were too damn lazy to do anything but whine and complain. Preferably on some internet site from the comfort of their homes or offices. Which achieves absolutely nothing, but a delightful win for the Republicans. Let's see how that works out for all the whiners over the next two years. Let's hope none of them end up needing any sort of social services during that time, because if they do, their asses are the hell out of luck. Oh, and that whole "Climate Change" thing. It's going to be tossed to the side by our current Congress. They're going to be too busy trying to win the Presidency in 2016 to worry about crap that people who can't even bother to take the time to vote care about. Hey, maybe we can totally sabotage 2016, too? If so, we could manage to destroy the Supreme Court for decades more to come. It could be the actual end of this nation for your entire lifetimes! Yay, there's a goal!

There's no one to blame but ourselves. We own this shit sandwich we made. If you thought it was bad before, you're in for a real show now, your future is going to make yesterday seem like a sweet memory you wish you could relive. See, the thing is if we, you and I, don't work to get people to the polls, no one else will. That's politics on a local level. That's what this is all about, it's what Howard Dean was really talking about. He wanted us to get active on local levels and learn the system and work for change from the ground up. Not complain because someone isn't doing it for us. We are the Democratic Party. Until we're not, because we can't be bothered to participate.

No disrespect, tavalon. It's just I obviously have put a lot of thought into this and I don't think it's something we can ignore, or blame on something which isn't the real issue unless we want to fall victim to the same thing again.

I voted, I GOTV a lot. I don't know a single person who didn't vote, but as with all midterms, it's only the political wonks who vote and there are just too few of us.

Have you seen how much Citizens United allowed the other side to outspend us? It's pretty astounding.
