Tea Partiers Are Already Warning The New GOP Majority: 'We're Watching You'

Leaders of some of the most prominent tea party and conservative-aligned outside groups gathered for a press conference on Wednesday to take a post-GOP-now-controls-the-Senate victory lap. But they also had a much less cheerful message for the new Republican Senate majority: we're watching you.

....

"Repeal Obamacare. Use reconciliation to pass a bill repealing Obamacare. Put it on the president's desk. Let him veto it and draw a line in the sand," Martin continued. "Secure the border and block the president's planned executive amnesty. Maintain the rule of law and prove that we as a country, as we have been for more than two centuries, are a nation of laws and not of men."

Martin said during the celebrations over Republican victories in the midterms she had "reason for concern" because of a press release from Boehner's (R-OH) office.

"In this release, Speaker Boehner lays out an agenda for the 114th Congress," Martin said. "Obamacare is mentioned nowhere. Neither is securing the borders nor blocking the President's planned executive amnesty."

....

I expect an even larger war over the next two years now that R's are in charge and even more primary challenges to come.

Look up Penn East Pipeline. My water should be fine - but ten miles down the road - it won't be.

Our borough and township leadership with bi partisan support intend to ramp up the fees big time to tap into our water supply. We voted for reduced water/sewer rates . . . The idiots down the road voted for Jeff Bell and Leonard Lance. They voted for gas contaminated water - they shouldn't expect other tax payers to pay their way.

As far as them carrying on about immigration, they didn't ask for papers when people were shipped like sardines in the slave ships. There was a Civil War to right that wrong, since the sacred 4th didn't protect the lives and privacy of POC and women. It took 4 more amendments to get that rectified, and that didn't get it all straight. The Tea Party follows the philosophy of the Confederacy

And my ancestors didn't exactly ask pretty please when they came here four centuries ago. And then the treaties signed with the natives were broken.

Rule of law my ass. They protest without a much needed look in the mirror.

yeah laws that were partial to the white slave owning male, especially rich white males until 1920 where women were begrudgingly given the right to vote. Laws that continued to be partial to the 'privileged class' class until 64-65 where black people got some window dressing called the voting and civil rights acts. Jump to 2014, those ACTS are under attack again by the white male leaders of this nation of laws. Such BULLSHIT!!!!!

As this election showed, more mainstream GOP candidates have no real issues with tacking right when it suits them, and the GOP is increasingly perfecting ways to shut down the teahadists when necessary. There'll be a lot of grandstanding, but it won't cripple the GOP -- just the opposite, in fact, since it will make Mitch & Co look reasonable and thus worth making a deal with. And our president sure does like the idea of making deals with the GOP...

except for 600th repeal for Obamacare, sending dreamers and immigrate back where they belong with the exception of Cubans, whites and some asians. More deregulation for 1-2%ers with no paying taxes and shipping jobs over seas, while corporate media turns a blind eye. Cutting social programs for the 99%ers ya know the seniors who voted for them will lose big (and I seriously don't care) especially the ones the red states.

They got what they wanted from these idiots. They got their votes. And let's face it, there isn't one thing the GOP is going to do to actually help most of these so-called Tea Party folks. Let's face it, most of them would benefit from a Democrat in the White House but these people are so idiotic about the 3 'G' - Guns, Gods and Gays (or lack of Gays) that they would sacrifice things like a safe environment, clean drinking water, good jobs and decent wages.

it may be their way of damaging Hillary, who would then have to deal with Joe Biden's expected candidacy in 2016.

I'm still hoping for Ted Cruz as majority leader. Mitch is a better poker player and knows how to appear like a
reasonable fellow.

Now Ted, he's got real fire.

In both cases it's a set of activists who think the scope of change elected officials can make is much broader than people like me think it acually is.

...and consist mostly of representatives of the older generations of this group. They tend to wax nostalgic about the "good ole days" of the 1950s or 1960s.

They have more in common with each other than either have in common with the rest of American society these days. And that's part of why they are so angry; they fear being tossed aside into social, cultural, and political irrelevance.

It will show clearly that they cannot lead, something they already have issues with. And just as Joseph McCarthy soured the Republican brand back in the 1950's Ted Cruz will sour the Republican brand in the 2010's.

The other thing this will probably do is to revive the Occupy movement.

Openly embrace some (more or less) moderate republicans... tell everybody that So and So is really cooperating with us. The nutballs will go crazy.(er)

and...

Give lots of ink and attention to the really crazy ones, forcing the (more or less) moderate repubs to disavow them. Hopefully, that would also energize the comatose groups in the Dem coalition.

and...

If there is any kind of dissention within the Repub ranks, we make sure that the country knows it.

Let's see, the new repub majority can worry about pleasing this cute, almost insignificant 1-3% group, OR they can pay attention to the swing voters, that 12-28% group that didn't really vote FOR them in the first place, but really just voted against the majority party out of pure, unfocused dissatisfaction with the current status.

I hope they do focus on that 1-3% tea party.. then they'll continue to get nothing done, and be replaced again by the adults come 2 years.

They could raise their own army, navy and air force and get off the dole financed by the North that is allowing to even survive. What a wonderful nation we could have rid of all those obstructionists. They could elect Captain Cruz as their president and have a gay old time dealing with the minorities that would make it hell on earth for them. Just think of the magnificent possibilities we could have with all the capital that we could actually invest in infrastructure, education, job training, expanded medical care and Social Security. Now that is a dream I would love to see become a reality, but sadly we are shoulder with this burden that Lincoln naively believed was worth saving.
