Will some committee or another hold a hearing to look into possible impeachable offenses? Maybe. Will there be articles of impeachment reported out of committee and voted on by the full House? Almost certainly not.

there was at least a potential legal issue in that there was an accusation of perjury, which is, of course, a real crime. There's not even anything close to a crime in President Obama's actions. It's all bluster, as usual.

reason they would impeach him. They can't because an impeachment trial would capture the attention of the nation. They can't risk that. The people would pay attention and it would all fall apart. They know that and they can't fabricate a reason.

Clinton never should have been impeached but he opened the door to that.

Third will be passage of Keystone approval- signed
4th will be fast-track of TPP -signed

Then they will get to the circus that they really want.

They are in a good position if they play their cards right. Impeachment would do nothing but hurt them. This question has been asked since the republicans took the house and the only people who have been right are the ones who say it isn't going to happen.

There is a problem when people underestimate the radical and dangerous threat they pose. They managed to shut down the Government when few pundits thought it possible and got by with it looking at the November 2014 election. So now leadership in the Republican caucus will keep them in their cages? That's peachy.

That is what the op is about. Also, you say there "is a problem when people underestimate the radical and dangerous threat they pose."

I do not underestimate it. That is why I know they aren't going to impeach. It is those running around yelling impeachment who underestimate them.

So, talking about peachy, when does the impeachment start?

They could try it, but I doubt it would get very far and it would be met with much resistance.

If it doesn't happen by summer of 2015, then it's not going to happen. Everyone will be focused on the 2016 election by then.

They've been talking about since Tuesday night. Basically saying they want him, or at least expect him to be what they will beat voters head with between now and 2016, a failed lame duck president who was the real obstructionist, they talk about bringing bill after bill to his desk in order to achieve this. In some ways the "when will impeachment begin" crowd demonstrates one bad element in our own party, those who really have not studied their enemy, spend too much time in our own echo chamber and the rights extreme forums a la free republic. It pays to actually see what they are saying, even if you can't stomach Mcturtle he practically laid out the next 2 years yesterday.

announces no indictment of killer cop Wilson for the extra-judicial murder of Michael Brown -- focuses the mind, so to speak, on what's really going down -- I doubt they will launch impeachment proceedings. They get too much mileage out of having Obama around to use as their bete noir to risk rousing the fury of the silent masses. (Only 30% voted in Tuesday's election and Repubs won a majority of that 30%, hardly a landslide or even 'mandate,' their delusions of grandeur notwithstanding.)

All roads now lead to Ferguson.

Not that it will DEFINITELY stop the morons ...

But they have effectively taken a GOOD president and made him toxic.

They have effectively impeached him by totally shutting government down for the last four years, and have effectively framed him in a painfully negative manner.

And, now they get to spend two years putting forward every last bit of crazy ass shit they want with him as their foil.

They get to float it all and see what they are going to get past the dumb shits who live in this country, and get to continue to cast Barrack Obama as whatever subhuman POS they feel serves their purposes at any given time.

All the while scheming to set up whoever their candidate for President is going to be - again, using the characture of Barrack Obama as the foil to say "WE HAVE XXXX TO MAKE IT ALL BETTER!"

Republicans will talk it up to rally the base but any type of impeachment would disenfranchise a majority of the voters. This would be a waste of time, tax payer money and when it failed it would leave the Republicans eating crow.
