Dont think Citizens United made a difference for the GOP in Tuesdays midterms? The plaintiff in the landmark Supreme Court case thinks so.
Citizens United, our Supreme Court case, leveled the playing field, and were very proud of the impact that had in last nights election, said David Bossie, chairman of the conservative advocacy organization.
He complained that Democratic lawmakers were trying to gut the First Amendment with their proposed constitutional amendment to overturn the 2010 ruling, reported Right Wing Watch, which allowed corporations to pour cash into campaigns without disclosing their contributions.
Bossie said this so-called dark money was crucial to Republicans gaining control of the U.S. Senate and strengthening their grip on the U.S. House of Representatives.

(17,320 posts)The partisanship in the S.C. is the fundamental flaw in our Government. As long as the Republicans have that advantage, all of the trends will be very negative for most Americans. Simple as that.

(30,481 posts)How to change it was made very clear to them and they have done nothing. Democrats in congress put forward no legislation, since the a couple of weeks after the CU decision, that I am aware of dealing with the outcome of CU. Now it is too late for them. Well, not really too late as they didn't want to seriously address it in the first place. Far too many people aren't aware of how this needs to be addressed. Congressional democrats are very well aware of their role in this. It is an overall role of support.
