FIX THE ECONOMY1. Cancel NAFTA, WTO and future 'free' trade agreements which are the main cause of the lack of jobs and declining economy.
Instead of working and paying taxes, we have people forced to ask for help from the government because their jobs were sent overseas where communist China has now overtaken the US as the top economy in the world.
We are propping up a communist country because corporations wanted more money. This has to change and surely the Republicans will see this as well. They HATE communists, they won't shut up about Russia/Putin.
RETURN TO CONSTITUTION
2. Repeal the Patriot Act, cancel the massive NSA spy centers all over the country.
Republicans HATE goverment intrusion (which they think Obama started) so let's eliminate all the hugely expensive spying programs.
Who is going to argue with that?
Obviously with all that money wasted, some ragtag group of beheaders are still going to get us, so the NSA has failed miserably. They are fired!
What do you think should be included in the Democratic Platform that Democrats actually want?

Largest population of prisoners in the world, $100,000 per year to lock someone up in prison for non violent offenses.
Then the family needs to be supported by welfare because the breadwinner is in prison.
How about we let pot smokers out of prison and instead pay 2 people $50,000 per year to install solar panels instead?

(1,213 posts)Bernie Sanders first needs to be schooled on election fraud which he doesn't think exists.
After the 2004 stolen election when Americans were demanding Congress look into what happened in Ohio...
Bernie Sanders took to the floor to tell everyone to shut up and get over it.
He and Conyers were all part of the dog and pony show.
We have no leaders.
We need to lead and make them follow.

(1,213 posts)Millennials cannot get the tech jobs they went to college for because corporations would rather pay people $1 per day to set up their systems.
So instead they are on unemployment or working retail to pay off their student loans.
Why are we allowing this?

(33,224 posts)among the working class, amnesty is a losing issue.
So the question is a choice between appealing to the votes of the upper middle class for whom immigration is solely an issue of cheap lettuce at Whole Foods and raising social consciousness or the working class for whom it is an issue of depressed wages.
I think one of the biggest fatal mistakes we've made is mixed messages in our appeals to the working class. "We want a higher minimum wage so that "undocumented" immigrants can send a living wage back home"

(146,317 posts)It's created and adopted for the national convention in Presidential election years. It's created by committees made up of active party leadership members. It's fed by 50 state conventions which pass resolutions that call for items to be included in the platform. The Platform committee is made up of active Democratic Party leaders who are also delegates to the national convention.
Nothing is going to go into the platform that was not adopted as a resolution by the 50 state conventions. And those state conventions adopt resolutions by a vote of the delegates to their state convention. Only those delegates an adopt a platform resolution. On the state level, resolutions are introduced by district conventions and committees. Those proposed resolutions are also adopted by votes of active participants in the party organization.
You want platform items? Get involved with your local party organization. Propose a resolution and work to get it adopted. Try to become a delegate to the state convention and then try to become a delegate to the national convention. Plan on spending several election cycles of active participation, though, before you get to be a delegate to either.
There is only one way that items become part of the Democratic Party platform, and DU isn't part of that process. It all happens within the official Democratic Party organization. If you want changes, you need to become and active part of that organization.

(314 posts)You will not get change from Washington. You need to start over with a new constitution and a truer democracy. A discussion on the General Welfare clause in the preamble to the constitution is also needed as is follow up discussion on States rights.

(146,317 posts)and 'truer democracy' are going to happen? What would the process to implement either be? It's easy to say that, but not so easy to make it happen.
