They accused the President of "poisoning the well" if he acts upon his own authority, if they refuse to pass immigration reform. He has that authority and he should use it. He said if they pass legislation it would supersede any executive order he might sign. Mitch McConnell said that would be like "waving a red flag at a bull"...
At the same time, they publicly declare their intent to repeal parts of "Obamacare", the President's primary achievement. So who has "poisoned the well"?

It is their job to poison the well while blaming him.

(34,648 posts)First off, we need our own media. I'm glad younger people don't really watch cable news as much or read newspapers. They think it's all bullshit. As they get older and start voting regularly, that probably won't change. I started voting regularly in my mid 20's, a late bloomer. We need to be knocking on doors on off years and getting progressive measures on the ballot. It will pull the politicians our way when they win with large support.
One day, we will stop playing defense and go on offense. Go around republicans, get shit passed, take credit, and show how they are against regular folks. We have to get things done to win, not just try to get things done. We need things to brag about, not to fear of loss the voters. Republicans do fear much better than we do.

I don't really think they care.
Is this the most important task for them to pretend to care about?
Is this the problem that Americans hired them to fix?
You're spot on. I wish I could rec your post.

(3,539 posts)I know its good to be polite. Something about good manners by upbringing.
The problem is that the rank and file teapublicans are beginning to act like their talking head icons.
When you add that to an apparent loss of reality, political and otherwise, it becomes difficult to keep ones temper.
Basically, I'm bristling.
How could people be so foolish?
Like turkeys lining up in front of the chopping block on Thanksgiving eager to get their present.
You would have thought Sahara Palin would have thought them about what happens when the GOP says nice things to turkeys.
And they think its a mandate.
I'll just simmer for a while until I can figure out how to use the anger in a constructive manner.
