Interesting Stats coming in re Kay Hagan Vote: Early Voting vs. Election Day
pointing to Early Voting giving her a comfortable lead. It was Election Day Voting that turned the tide.
The Voting Group I work with which advocates Protecting and Expanding early voting thinks that's interesting enough that they want to do further research. Why would early voting go Democratic but Election day see a surge of Republicans. Now this is NC...but I wonder if any other states have Stats showing the same thing. Also in local district a Dem Candidate for the County Council had the same Stats with Early Voting giving lead and Election Day...Republican turnout. He's within 1/2% and is thinking of asking for recall.
Might be something for other DU Voting Rights Activists involved in State/Local Dem Party to check out.
BTW: There's some speculation it could be that EVoting gives service/part time workers and low wage workers the flexibility to find time to vote and more lean Democrat.
The EDay Voters may be self employed in own business or work for large companies that allow flexible time off for Voting and tend to be more supportive of Republicans.
But it will be good to dig further into the Male/Female Vote and the Age Groups.
Protecting Early Voting would seem to be important for Dems....if more research can get firm Stats.
