A great one is gone
Rest in Peace Lane Evans. He was a great Representative for Illinois' 17th District and he passed away last night, November 5.
Ex Marine, tremendous representative, truly a man of the people. He did what very few reps seem to do nowadays, represent ALL of the people of his district.
I remember a dumbass teabagger type told me a long time ago that "Maybe if Evans would vote for more funding for the (Rock Island) arsenal, they wouldn't be threatening to shut it down." My reply was, "Maybe you should do some research and realize that Evans is an ex marine who fought in 'Nam and has never ever voted to cut funding from the largest employer in the area." The guy had the impression that because Evans was an unabashed Liberal, he was a weakling or something. He was far from a weakling. Anyway, as already stated, Rest in Peace Lane Evans.
