Florida Cop Breaks 14-Year-Old Girl’s Arm During Warrantless Cell Phone Search

http://www.alternet.org/florida-cop-breaks-14-year-old-girls-arm-during-warrantless-cell-phone-search

Florida parents are calling for a Greenacres Police Department officer to be fired after he reportedly broke their 14-year-old daughter’s arm while attempting a warrantless search of her cell phone.

According to an arrest report published by the Broward-Palm Beach New Times this week, Officer Jared Nash explained that he approached the 14-year-old girl at John I. Leonard High School on Oct. 21 because he believed that she had video of a fight on her cell phone.

Nash described the girl, who was talking on the cell phone, as “uncooperative.” He said that she pushed him back as she tried to get past him to walk away.

“When she did this I took a hold of her left arm,” he wrote, adding that he gave her a verbal command to “stop and put the phone down.”

She's a kid. He's a monster. I hope they fire him and the parents press charges.

The girl’s father provided X-rays to blogger Davy V. showing multiple breaks in her arm.

The father said that Nash had only gone to the school because he had filed a police report about his daughter being bullied days earlier, and that his daughter had been uncooperative with the officer because she was on the phone with her mother when her arm was broken.

“We initiated a police report, and [the police] ended up causing more harm than anyone,” he pointed out.

He also said that the school had surveillance video of Nash breaking his daughter’s arm, but officials were refusing to release it <emphasis added>.

It is not safe to call the cops to help you or your loved ones. They will assault anyone, even the victim they have been called to help protect!

To blame an entire state is, well, knee-jerk stupid.
Now excuse me while I go out and break some kids' arms - after all, I live in Florida.
After that I will see if I can reverse all my years of voting Dem, because I am an old, white, female Floridian, and I have read here that I must have voted GOP.

just ignore the truth, deflect and distract with some kind of faux offense at a person's opinion about florida. I'm not downing any democrat or the people who vote as democrats. Just do not like the fact of your state's ability to re-elect an obvious fascist, racist governor, had a SOS in 2000 along with that disaster's brother, steal a national election and thusly caused grief for multitudes of people worldwide. Trayvon Martin is in his grave with no one responsible for his death as an unarmed young black male, that's according to a jury of his floridian peers....you get offended that I hold that state and MOST of it people in derision and contempt, after all a majority did just reelect scott, oh well...please no offense to you, maybe, but the deepest contempt for the majority of floridians. And yes, that MEANS the deepest contempt, a thousand time yes, for the majority that voted for scott. I won't back off MY original statement about the state. It's poisonous and hazardous to life and limb, especially AA minorities.
