Sorry I don't have time to fully flesh this out, but Ronan Farrow just interviewed the colorful former SEAL ("I'm so old I was a frogman" and governor on the issue of the two SEAL Team 6 members blowing their own cover for profit.
1-- In former times, the US govt was not hiring mercenaries and paying them ten times what SEALs are paid
2-- Read "War is a Racket" to learn about -- well, DUers already know war is waged for obscene profits, but this book was highly recommended by all the vets in my VFP chapter during the Bush era.
Sorry gotta go. It was a good interview.

(52,791 posts)He stresses the situation that the Team 6 members are in when they are paid standard military pay for the most complicated, dangerous work that blackwater operatives get paid buckets and buckets of public money for.

(5,082 posts)Great book. The best actually. Smedley is the General who outed Prescott Bush and his treasonous buddies to Congress regarding their plot to have a coup against FDR in the 30s. The Business Mans Plot i think it's called.
