Wow! US is sending 1,500 more troops to Iraq, nearly doubling total

Spigots open. The mission has crept.

The announcement of this deployment plus Obama seeking a new authorization of force does not bode well.

Might as well settle in for the long Iraq and Syrian war. And the next president will inherit Obama's war.

Stewart ticked off a few things that Obama had done or put off or whatever because of the election, some at the request of people who were running. My personal favorite: Keystone. According to Stewart, Obama put it off in March so that blue staters wouldn't have to address it and also so red state Democrats could berate him for putting it off. Nice way to deal with the business of the nation, isn't it?

Even worse, in my opinion, was the way the immigration issue was handled.

Every time I think I am getting too cynical, something wakes me up to the fact that I am still way too naive.

season easier for Democratic candidates.

The interview of Risen at the end of the show was interesting, too.

I try not to miss any of the Daily Show shows. It's not that often that Stewart goes against the Democrats on anything important. Of course, if that had been a Republican administration, Stewart would probably have made a much bigger deal of it, but still......

around looking for George Lakoff's old articles on "Framing" for Progressive Democrats. I don't know if you remember when his work hit the Dem Blogosphere back in 2003 and everyone was talking about why Dems lose and what was wrong with us.

Given that we seem to be moving back to those "what's wrong with us" times...I thought it might be interesting to revisit what he was saying. I didn't know he has been doing You Tubes and a couple of other books since then so I watched a few.

Here's one you might find interesting on how the Dems could have done a better job of "Framing the ACA" to deflect the attacks by the Repubs. Watching the Stewart Show later
was almost creepy when I though how far we should have come...and haven't, yet.

Lakoff gets a bit "wonky" about his brain research in the middle of the Video...but it's worth the whole watch. I thought, anyway.

It is not my place to defend this or explain it. They are going to combat zones. The mission is growing and expanding. In scope and in number.

A little here. A little there. And, soon enough you have a real war.....with lots of real people getting killed for nothing.
