Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDoes President Obama and the Democrats understand what the media and the Repubs are doing to them?
In order for the Repubs to succeed they have to show that they are able to get stuff done. Once they have some achievements, any achievements, they will say that the voters can see who was doing the obstruction. Obviously, it was Harry Reid and the Democrats.
In the process, they will threaten Barack Obama that he is going to get "burned" if he plays with matches. He should not dare to even think about an executive order giving amnesty to the "illegals". That will surely"poison the well".
And how long will the media keep pushing the Republican agenda? For as long as they want. They will put the onus of "bipartisanship" on Barack Obama.
Surely the Democrats see what is happening?

I can't believe the disconnect to this. If Obama had the senate and more in congress, we wouldn't be talking about this.

(90,061 posts)They are either naive or dissembling, since it is obvious to anyone who reads the news at all what is being done. Fox is obvious. Everybody knows Fox is not News. And after all, as politicians it's their job to know theses sorts of things, "what is being done".

(606 posts)Based on the exit polling it's pretty clear why the Republicans are anxious about Obama doing something to help the Latin American community. It's not like the angry bigot vote is up for grabs, anyway.

Remember the unending mockery regarding the "Dean Scream"?
The GOP has the media. The media treats the GOP as the default political party -- everything that the POTUS and Dems do is examined in light of how it affects the GOP.
I am certain there are Dems who see the situation for what it is. But now what? The Dems have been told for years that they need to learn how to "frame" their issues and stick to it (look up Lakoff on this) but only some of them stick to the program. The Dems need to remember Reagan's 11th Commandment -- but as is evident on DU every day, a lot of us delight in stirring the pot, while a lot of those running for office behave like abused spouses.
For the second time today I'm going to paraphrase Ben Franklin: Folks, if we don't hang together, we shall surely hang separately.
