I just can't make some purchases until my card comes in.

At least I was able to go grocery shopping before my card was cancelled. I don't write checks.

I also used my debit card at HD, and the bank sent me the new card first.

Nov 2014

Did a kitchen remodel at the beginning of the year. My wife, liked the cabinets at HD and the lady who helped her. (I had HUGE red flags over the lady helping) Anyway HD was 2k cheaper than custom build cabinets. So the demo occurs and HD cabinets show up, 1/3 of them are messed up. Some major, (cracked) some minor blemishes. So we have them come out to review the issues, which takes two weeks, and they agree they have issues. The rep from the cabinet company comments that we need to deal with some issues, these aren't custom cabinets, and we shouldn't expect top of the line unless we are buying custom cabinets that would run me 20k for my kitchen. I respond, "you may want to talk to the HD rep standing next to you, because I paid 20k for your cabinets, get them fixed.

About five weeks later the replacement pieces show up, again 1/3 of them are messed up. The main problem is the corner shelf for the kitchen island is a banana twisted mess. I take it down on a Friday evening and ask to talk to manager. The assistant manager comes out and looks at the shelf and states, yes it is messed up, but I NEED TO REALIZE THAT IT IS NATURAL MATERIALS AND MISTAKES HAPPEN. Also she has a background in manufacturing and 5 weeks is a good turn around time. I respond that yes, it is natural material, which is why you do QC checks on the wood prior to build and when you don't you end up building product that can't be used, and I can't have a twisted shelf to start an Island, because two of the four corners will be messed up. To add, a five week turn around after eight weeks is not good. If I ran a line with that much rework then I would solve the issue and/or create a special rework line for the shit product being cranked out. At that point I walked away and went back to the return desk and told them to have the store manager call me.

He actually called me on the next Monday and was apologetic, I explained to him that issue one was to get the new replacement parts in, and then issue two was to discuss costs. He agreed that he needed to get new product in so the kitchen could get completed and then we could work on cost issues.

A few weeks later the replacement parts come in, again a third messed up, but we use all of the excess shit parts to complete the kitchen and move forward. The Manager never returned a call, corporate never returned a call, so I go in and talk to another assistant manager and say I NEED A CALL BACK!

Nothing, so now I am remodeling the bathrooms and I drive 5 miles past the HD to buy stuff from them. As I pull off old shower doors and sinks, I take them down to the HD and place them against the receiving door. The original assistant manager watched me do it two weeks ago and I stared her down. Basically I am daring them to call the cops on me.

I have an older house with a weird kitchen and an unusual range, so 'off the rack' cabinets weren't going to be an option - and unfortunately the cabinets that worked the best weren't the cheap ones, but they are solid walnut and they weren't $20K. (The countertop I liked did turn out to be the most 'budget friendly,' shockingly enough.)
