Conservative pundit Ben Stein on Monday said that the "black underclass" in America cannot escape "the scourge of drugs and the scourge of gangs,"
On Newsmax TV, Steve Malzberg asked Stein about a report that the mother of Michael Brown, the black teen shot and killed by a Ferguson, Mo. police officer, faces felony charges.
...
"You would think, if you read the liberal mainstream media, that the main problem with race in America was poor innocent black people being set upon and mistreated by the police. Thats just nonsense," he said, according to video recorded by BuzzFeed.
...
"I mean, its an amazing thing blacks were on their way in this country, even after the horrors of slavery, and then drugs came in, the destruction of families came in, and the crisis in the black community is just absolutely unbelievable," he said. "And that, it seems to me, is something that Mr. Obama could have addressed, and he just ignored it completely."

Ben Stein is repeating basically Thomas Sowell's oft-quoted claim about black Americans: "The black family, which had survived centuries of slavery and discrimination, began rapidly disintegrating in the liberal welfare state that subsidized unwed pregnancy and changed welfare from an emergency rescue to a way of life."

(111,356 posts)they don't know, whether it's black folks, the poor, women, Hispanics, gay people, whatever they're not. Stein can tell us what it's like to be a rich moron, that's all, and he'd probably do a lousy job of that since he's got too little insight to realize the only thing pouring out of his piehole is sewage.

(27,461 posts)he should say "and then the war on drugs came in". Which happened when during Nixon, under whom Stein himself served in government.
By the way here is what he says about when drugs came into the white community:
http://thelead.blogs.cnn.com/2014/05/29/ben-stein-1960s-nixon-sixties-sex-drugs/
"When the '60s started, you were lucky to get a good night kiss from a girl if you went on a date with her. When the '60s ended, it was very rare not to have sex. When the '60s began, none of us knew what marijuana looked like. When the '60s ended, we were all high at the time," said Stein.

(37,162 posts)Stein has pioneered a grand unified theory which combines both fields with those of politics, economics, and entertainment.
His key discovery is that they are all joined at the rectum. "Once you get your head through that, everything becomes clear", he notes.
