Nebraska’s economic ties to China multiply

China has passed Japan as Nebraska’s No. 3 international customer, behind Canada and Mexico.

Sales by Nebraska businesses to China, now topping half a billion dollars a year, are expected to double again by 2017. The figure has doubled every three or four years lately.

Even more goods and services flow in from China, the No. 1 importer into Nebraska, pushing the two-way trade total past $2 billion a year.

Scores of Chinese companies are making business connections with Nebraska businesspeople, and there’s growing interest among Nebraska business operators in China’s huge and growing markets.
