I don't usually ever look up anything about a celebrity but I did on Anderson Cooper - Gee

He does have one heck of a background. Intern at the CIA got me also. Has to be right up there with Rachell Maddow.

Anderson Cooper net worth and salary: Anderson Cooper is an American television personality, journalist, and author who has a net worth of $100 million dollars. Anderson Cooper earns an annual salary of $11 million from CNN. Cooper is currently the host of CNN's news show Anderson Cooper 360. Cooper is the son of heiress Gloria Vanderbilt, and the great-great-great-grandson of shipping and railroad magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt.

Prior to becoming a news anchor, Cooper was a model for Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Macy's. Cooper went to Yale University where he studied Political Science and International Relations. During college, Cooper spent his summers as an intern at the CIA. Tragedy stuck when his father died suddenly in 1978. 10 years later, his older brother committed suicide. This event spurred his interest in Journalism. After Anderson graduated from Yale University, he lived in Vietnam for a year, studying the Vietnamese language at the University of Hanoi. He then worked as a fact checker for the news agency Channel One, and periodically sold his home-made news segments to the chanel. Cooper filmed reports of Vietnamese life and culture, and eventually moved onto Bosnia, Somalia, and Rwanda that aired on Channel One. Cooper became a correspondent for ABC News in 1995 then co-anchor on ABC's World News Now program on September 21, 1999. In 2000 Cooper decided he needed a change from the hectic news schedule and became host of The Mole for two seasons before returning to broadcasting. In 2001, Cooper joined CNN, anchoring alongside Paula Zahn on American Morning. In 2002 he became CNN's weekend prime-time anchor. His own show, Anderson Cooper 360, begain in 2003.

I remember when Anderson had his daytime talk show, Anderson Live. He had on Fred Phelps' granddaughter as a guest, who was talking about how difficult it was to heal from the mindfucking that went on inside WBC. On the show was a brief clip of a video sermon from the grandpappy of hate, wherein he said that he "actively wished" a "curse of plague" upon "vicious media Sodomite, Anderson Cooper." I believe he even said awful things about how Gloria had spawned a demon from her womb, she was a wicked whore who lost her other son as punishment from God, general nutcase crap from this mercifully deceased piece of shit.

I like Anderson and am glad we live in a cultural climate today where he can be who he is without worrying about getting fired or blackballed for it, or being forced to live in the closet and struggle and suffer.

There was a dumb RW rumor going around that Gloria had cut him out of the will and disowned him after he came out. This is actually not the case; all she said was that he has enough money from his own career and doesn't need the Vanderbilt fortune. Anderson said he was OK with not being a multi-gazillionaire with old railroad money, and that short of building another cross-country railroad, he probably wouldn't know what to do with it all anyway.

and it was so interesting I've followed him since. CNN just did a series Roots: Our Journeys Home on the genealogy of 13 anchors and hosts which was excellent. Don Lemon went to Africa with his mom where his ancestors were enslaved and brought to America, Wolf Blitzer's grandparents died at Auschwitz, Anthony Bourdain went to Paraguay, Fareed Zakaria to India, Anderson's father was a poor Mississippi farmer, his mother a Vanderbilt, his g-g-g-grandfathers on his father's side fought against each other in the Civil War.

I know most of our media have become completely corrupted and bought out but we owe a lot to the journalists who have brought us real stories like the ones that are in Liberia and Sierra Leone right now.
