Beginning next week, MSNBC will reorganize its TV and digital teams, uniting the two into a single newsroom termed "The Bridge."

I think it will be Manic Maddow.

(9,893 posts)He used to be on at 5 as well.
Personally, I like Tweety. He says some things that infuriate many DUers, including me, but he didn't get to be Tip O'Neil's chief of staff because of his looks. He can be pretty savvy, particularly when he steps back and analyzes the relative positions of both parties. And I love it when he talks about Tip.

(43,867 posts)I don't NOT like Tweety. He seems to get more quests and has more engaging guests.

(9,893 posts)He's been around DC forever, and seems to know everyone in DC. And his show is based in DC.
Hayes and Maddow are much more wonkish, and Maddow, at least, is based in New York rather then DC. It must be more difficult for her to get the DC crowd to come for a visit than it is for Matthews.

(62,325 posts)leg when he saw Bush pretending to be a war hero in the flight suit with the prominent cod piece, has ZERO 'savvy'.
But even worse than that, he went on to suggest that 'women love this stuff' as he gushed over that staged event. I guess his opinion of women is pretty low.
Then he went on to make it even worse again by asking: 'Seriously you have to admit, can you imagine Liberals being able to strut like that, to exude such (blah blah blah) as Bush did in that suit'
And then, the worst part. He gave examples of Liberals he apparently viewed, as 'so wimpy' there was no way they could put on a flight suit like that 'and carry it off'. ONE OF THE LIBERALS HE USED AS AN EXAMPLE was GEORGE McGOVERN!
Clearly the moron, Tweety I mean, had no idea that McGovern was an ACTUAL, REAL LIFE, WAR HERO. One who didn't just 'strut and swagger' around in a flight suit, he actually wore one as a WW11 Fighter Pilot.
Anyone that ignorant is nothing but another of the media blowhards dished up to the public as 'experts'.
He's a DC insider and a pretty ignorant, nasty person.
Haven't watched his show since I heard him CHEER for a Fake 'hero' in a flight suit who went AWOL from the NG while ignorantly slamming a true, LIBERAL, actual WW11 Fighter Pilot.
Still makes me angry to think about it.
Just another talking head.
We don't get too many intelligent and knowledgeable people on our media, so I stopped watching all of it a long time ago.

(75,480 posts)he's been having meetings at MSNBC. Now I know he does little guest spots on Ed and other shows, so I'm certain the meetings aren't about those. Could it be he might get a show? If so, that would indicate a further move to the left.

(4,609 posts)I like Hayes, but he has decimated their prime time ratings. People tune in for Hardball, then a third of them leave when his show comes on and come back an hour later for Maddow. I'm pretty sure that's almost unheard of.
Ed's ratings are so bad anymore his show can't be distinguished from background noise.

(43,867 posts)The numbers you're seeing are the 25 - 54 demo. An important demo, yes.
I'm looking at numbers overall in the last measured 30 day period.

This could change through November. We'll find out in December.

(2,805 posts)I've been looking at the TVNewser 25-54 demo rating for years without reading/comprehending the small print.
I apologize for my post sounding blunt. I stand corrected and am grateful for the link to more detailed ratings.
Thanks again!

Up was by far the best weekend political show on all the networks, including the broadcast channels. Taking Hayes away from the discussion panel format and having him read a teleprompter for 40 minutes was an inept move.
