Mom Jailed for Lawn, Now Faces More Time For Ivy On Her House!

Karen Holloway went to jail for her overgrown yard – now they want to get her for her ivy! The waitress and mother of four is now listed in in the local “mugshot” rag along with rapists and child molesters – and now they want to put her in jail for days or even weeks.

According to a friend who also attended her hearing this week, Karen of four noticed that a code enforcement officer was idling in front of her house when she walked up to his car and asked what he was doing there. He replied “You’ll find out tomorrow in court.” Karen, not being the type to give up easily, pressed him, and he pointed to the ivy growing on her historic home, and said it was an issue that she needed to take care of before her next hearing.

“But lots of houses have ivy on them! It’s beautiful. What’s the matter with ivy?” she said.

“This ain’t England” was his reply.

Ivy can be very destructive to a home, but it's not ugly.. and always looks that way in the winter ..

Her home looks waaaay too old to be in an association area.. She needs a lawyer..or she should move..

I went on to read the article. When the policeman was harassing her she asked,"What's wrong with ivy, its beautiful?"

The cop said, "This ain't England."

Lenoir City, Tennessee, City Attorney James K. Scott can be reached at (865)-635-0006. Lets DU this situation. I'm calling this guy
today! This is real activism that can make a difference.

This is a hardworking woman hustling as a waitress with 4 kids to support in that big house that's run down a bit and has a huge
yard. If I lived near there I would help her for free with her yard.

the family doesn't live in the house - they live in an apartment. They purchased it with the idea to revamp it but life got in the way and they didn't have the funds to do it. I think it's on the main drag of the town.

the community has too many cops. Fire some. This is probably the next dumbest "offense" to not mowing the lawn. Sheesh! Ivy is an ornamental plant and it grows up not down. She's definitely a target for some other motive.

that her photo was framed right above "Sex Offenders" .

She needs an attorney from another community, one who wouldn't have to worry about pressure or influence, he could just add the price of his travel to the damages. Have him look into harrassment and malicious prosecution. If the bullying from the local PTB cause her to lose her employment then that would be something more she could recover damages from.

Yards, houses, trees, sidewalks, steps, driveways, empylots, streets, etfuckingcetera. It is their cheap-assed way to cover their lead paint infused poison houses.

I hate ivy as a do it all. In controlled doses fine but like kudzu no.

Plants growing out of stickbuilt roofs and trim is just sloppy.

This case though does seem a little fishy for what its worth.

What is really going on in this town. This sounds very suspicious. Is there anyone on DU that lives near this area that could look into what is happening?

That's all the husband or two teen age kids had to do to avoid all this for the last 13 years.

It's not that hard to make sure a small lawn like that is mowed
