California vs Kansas State Tax Experiments

Well we have two states that are doing the opposite of each other in their economics. California and Kansas. Let's see which state does the best over the next two years. I am betting on California, they have a surplus, are investing in education, bullet train, transportation. Kansas is cutting back on everything to make up for their tax cuts. This should be proof as to what tax policies work the best.

fucked. We can't compete with anyone except on the race to the bottom. I can tell you right now, the winner will not be Kansas unless you consider bankruptcy winning.

I lived in CA, actually several times over a few decades since the early 1970s. I was just there this past week. I drove across the state on I-80, then all the way to the Mexican border and all the way back. I was impressed with some of the innovations along the freeway system that have been made since my last visit about 15 years ago. I traveled over Donner Pass, through Sacramento, Oakland, LA and San Diego. The freeway system does a fairly good job of handling the incredible amount of road traffic and the non-urban speed limit is 75mph. Although, I was surprised to see that in NV and Idaho the speed limits are now 80mph. Yikes.

I hope that the state continues to progress even though many of the rural places I once enjoyed are now massive housing developments, shopping malls, distribution centers and industrial sites... at least there was some forethought in how it has been done in many of those now developed places. I couldn't handle the smog, though. I came home in time for -20F temps... I'll take that any day over the smog. And the SJ valley smog was as bad as in all the cities.

I don't think Kansas will be able to escape the blight of the kochmonster anytime in our lifetimes which is sad for the people of that state.
