Massey Energy former CEO may go to prison, oh man do I want to see that.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Don Blankenship, the steely-eyed executive once dubbed "The Dark Lord of Coal Country," on Thursday became the highest-ranking coal official to face federal charges in the nation's deadliest mine disaster in 40 years.

A federal grand jury indicted the former Massey Energy CEO on numerous counts of conspiracy in the April 2010 underground explosion that killed 29 men at the Upper Big Branch Mine in Montcoal, West Virginia.

the tragedy in WV where we learned a whole lot about this guy. Hoped they would get him back then.

About time, is all I can say right now.

A corporate shield. Sacrificing employees for higher profits is no better than gunning down anyone to rob a bank.

I hope he gets the maximum number of years, his refusal to adhere to safety laws killed 29 miners.

"Senator Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia had an unusually sharp reaction. “As he goes to trial, he will be treated far fairer and with more dignity than he ever treated the miners he employed,” he said. “And, frankly, it’s more than he deserves.”" Well said, Senator.

We keep locking up the petty offenders while corporate criminals like Blankenship are unpunished for their crimes. About time the tides are starting to turn!

...but I think he has enough on several judges who currently sit on the WV Supreme Court, that he'll be able to get that sentence reduced!

Perhaps he's even got a few politicians in his pocket that the DOJ would like to hear about...
