"A disgruntled middle class will vote for fascism." This was true in Italy, Spain, Germany, and a host of other countries in Europe.
The silver lining is, after fascism fails...which it always does...they will vote in Socialism. It is the natural evolution of politics.
So, I guess I am saying, get ready for Ted Cruz. It is a real possibility.

(10,650 posts)The elites behind the republican party, though, may not want Cruz because he's a loose cannon. Cruz has the rabble, but not necessarily the money to win.
The republicans as a party have drifted towards fascism (mainly in the form of corporatism) in the past 30 years. The Democrats have drifted right too, just not that far.
I would prefer that we just skip the fascist stage. Hopefully enough Americans agree with us to prevent it
