Imagine that Cosby had 500 victims instead of 16.

Imagine that many of these were children, most commonly aged around 13 to 15, but some much younger (the youngest being aged 2).

Now imagine that many of the victims were in a psychiatric hospital to which Cosby had been given VIP access.

Imagine further that Cosby was even more loved and respected than he actually was before the revelations and had raised millions for many worthy charities.

Finally, throw in some revelations of necrophilia that took place in mortuaries.

And what you then have is the UK Jimmy Savile sex abuse scandal.

Or had somehow brought it upon themselves. Savile and Cosby were good men, after all. Everyone says so. Who is going to believe me? But when the allegations started coming in and the victims realized that they were not alone they were able to speak up.

They hold onto this hurt for a long time, and then find out it wasn't just them.
