When the rule of law shows no respect to victims

It follows that the rule of law will not be respected.

That's about all I have to say about this disgusting grand jury verdict and the DA who treated Darren Wilson as the victim.

This was not justice.

'We are a nation founded upon the rule of law' or some variant thereof would be trotted out by someone in power to attempt to 'justify' the lack of justice those laws so frequently bring forth.

'Rule of Law' is just that - the rule of law, not of justice. It is the stick that maintains the status quo, no matter how unjust the status quo is.

The Law (or the government; people in power who are mighty pleased with how the Law is being applied). Let's ask the man-on-the-street, "Are we a nation of laws that are applied without regard to WHO you are?" Let's ask (say), Michael Brown... Er, never mind.

Depressing for that family, for that community and for what it says about our society as a whole.
