I'm simply applying the same logic to those riots that several DUers have applied to what's happening in Ferguson.

I dont hear people defending riots after sports, yet people are trying to defend these riots.

Police are in fact happy to brutalize football fans, pumpkin fest revelers, or whomever.

In fairness, she was pretty scared this year (of both the partiers and the cops).

it is a part of our culture now it seems. I may be right or wrong but IMO People are very tense these days and need to blow off steam. Be it a pumpkin fest, football game, in response to killing of young men in the streets, carrying a BB gun in a park or walking down a staircase with your girlfriend.

They won a game in our stadium - first time in a long time - and in celebration they went to tear down our goalposts, but we stopped them. And spend a few pleasant days patting ourselves on the backs, safe in the knowledge that even though we had lost the game - we had shown real class - unlike those classless jerks who were our rivals.

Then Tuesday word got round that someone broke into their stadium and tore down their goalposts. And the same people who talked about how classless they were for trying to tear down our goalposts were talking about how they got learned a lesson.

That taught me everything I needed to know about Football love.

I'm gonna go watch in the Wally's parking lot at midnight and see if they bring the tear gas.

This has been a horrible week. I knew what was coming when they leaked that they had homeland security gear in the area etc. One big dog and pony show for the elites. Keep the plebes fighting ...

Absolutely appalling.

Don't assume that protesters are guilty of starting all those fires. Anybody such as the KKK could start fires knowing the protesters will be blamed and smeared for it.

Anyone from Black Bloc to the KKK to simple opportunists may be doing this. We don't have the facts yet and it's ludicrous to make judgments this early.

23. From another op
Tue Nov 25, 2014, 11:46 AM
Nov 2014

Martin Luther King once insisted, "is that a riot is the language of the unheard." Recourse to rioting, he suggested, is seldom a marker of irrationality or mob psychology. More often, it is an attempt by marginalized people to find their voice, to gain a hearing, to assert their refusal to be silenced or ignored.
