Lying about being rich in order to get someone in bed could become rape in NJ.

Rape by fraud? N.J. lawmaker introduces bill to make it a crime

TRENTON — Imagine this: A man woos a woman to bed with tales of his riches, fast cars and a vacation home in Monaco. But he actually lives in his mother’s basement.

Or this: A seemingly wealthy widow convinces a younger man to sleep with her on the notion that they may marry and he’ll inherit her money. In reality, she’s broke.

Under a bill recently proposed by a south Jersey lawmaker, such actions would not only be considered dishonest. They could prompt charges of rape.

Earlier this month, state Assemblyman Troy Singleton (D-Burlington) introduced the bill (A3908), which would create the crime of “sexual assault by fraud,” which it defines as “an act of sexual penetration to which a person has given consent because the actor has misrepresented the purpose of the act or has represented he is someone he is not.”

I could think of other examples that,IMHO, are better.
A man with a wife and 2 children claims he is single in order to bed someone. Or a person claims to be disease free when he has a disease that could be communicated through sex.

Or if you claim that you are a very spiritual person, when in fact you are not.

Or if you claim that her ass looks great in those pants, when in fact it doesn't.

Or if you claim to enjoy "chick flicks" when in fact you don't.

This is an utterly stupid proposal for a law that would almost certainly be found unconstitutional.

Good luck with proving this stuff.

You can prove penetration and they'll still say you were not raped--it was consensual. And, it's too hard to prove rape because it's only "he said, she said." (Too bad so few victims get raped in front of eyewitnesses willing to testify!) But, you're going to be able to prove someone lied to you to get you to have sex?

They actually believe they are wealthy until the repo man takes their car and they are evicted from the house.

I think it would be much worse to be caught up in a relationship with someone like Donald Trump, Rush Limbaugh, or Mitt Romney.

Getting into a relationship for the money is always a bad idea, whether the wealth is real or not.

I don't believe for one second the spin that this will mean men can be jailed for lying about how rich they are. People are being really dishonest here.
