In the UK, Michael Brown would have probably ended up with a bruise from a truncheon, at worst.

Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin would have gone to the ER to be patched up and sent home (free of charge, incidentally).

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Where there are guns, people will die. Key witnesses will be unable to testify, because they are dead. Without our gun culture, thousands of people who are dead would be alive today.

And their LE personnel don't have to worry that a twelve year old boy is going to shoot them! It's completely different and safer for everyone involved.

So let's just put that idea to bed right now. America change its gun culture? Not going to happen.

And with what I see around me?

I'm not going to be a tutsi waiting for someone to hack me to death.

So Michael Brown might have ended up with a face full of pepper spray. Your larger point stands though. Pepper spray is uncomfortable but not fatal. My brother-in-law recently retired after thirty years on the force, having arrested hundreds of criminals with zero fatalities.
