NFL player Benjamin Watsons long, heartfelt reaction to a grand jury decision not to indict Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of teenager Michael Brown Jr. has quickly gone viral.
The New Orleans Saints tight end expressed his thoughts on Tuesday night in a Facebook post that has been shared more than 340,000 times and liked by more than 600,000 Facebook users. He notes that he was either playing or getting ready to play a game against the Baltimore Ravens when the announcement came down.
IM ANGRY because the stories of injustice that have been passed down for generations seem to be continuing before our very eyes, Watson wrote. He added that he was frustrated by pop cultures glorification of confrontations between police and citizens.
IM FEARFUL because in the back of my mind I know that although Im a law abiding citizen I could still be looked upon as a threat to those who dont know me. So I will continue to have to go the extra mile to earn the benefit of the doubt, he wrote.

(15,882 posts)cutest kid. Dad looked like a working class guy, maybe a little rough - my kind of folks <G>.
As I walked away the black guy said "thank you", and kind of smiled, in what could have been relief.
I have long been tired of living in a world where someone of another color is relieved that you aren't seeing them as a target.

(748 posts)This is the fault of Mr Brown, then, for fighting with a cop? For rebelling against authority?
Maybe you ought to read the bible. I'm pretty sure it was used to beat your ancestors over the head.
For example, Eph 6:5 :
"Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ."

(13,141 posts)to stop this rampant police insanity?
So they have to stop being criminals, if they want to
be cops?
And they have to respect civil rights, if they want to
be cops?
And if they shoot somebody for any questionable
reason, they will come before an impartial panel of
investigators whose sole purpose is to make sure
police are not abusing civil rights.
