Because most prosecutors and local authorities are probably GOP dominated, nothing will happen to correct the national situation. Go south of the Mason Dixon line and it is even worse. The corruption, racism, bigotry, brutality and such goes unreported or covered up.
As long as the GOP dominates local communities the status quo will continue. And the GOP relishes a militarized police system if you think about it. And with the GOP in control of Congress you can be assured that nothing at all will get done. If the GOP has its way they will militarize the police even more.
The real truth seems to be that most police forces now have a significant number of white supremacists in their midst. The quality of people serving today is much lower than it ever has been and standards are lax.
So the public has to get used to what is going on. It is the conservatives way of suppressing minorities. It is a way of eliminating future leaders of blacks and hispanic. Certainly cannot allow any more Jesse Jacksons, Eldridge Cleavers, Al Sharptons, Rallph Abernathtys or MKL's to take the national stage and demand rights for blacks, hispanics. It is better to find ways to jail them and even kill them in their prime.
This situation is the state of affairs in the GOP;s and Reagan's Amerikkka. They have birthed this racist monster.

Lest we also forget the recent threads on here about DU's views waning, in light of all the Ferguson, race, and police brutality talk. Most white folks do not want to think about this stuff. They are totally ok with the status quo. That includes both white democrats and republicans.
The issue is less about D or R or politics. it is more about general race relations and how white people view police brutality and how they believe it should be handled.

Cleveland? Democratic Mayor
Let me suggest that, rather than focus on protests and general strikes, focus on good old fashioned politics. Get people elected for whom police reform is important. Remember De Blasio campaign on stop and frisk?

Chances are the NYPD won't get away with their heavy-handed policing for long, given that DeBlasio doesn't want his son to become another statistic. BTA, he'd push for police reform whether he has a biracial son or not.

(21,211 posts)Who are being fed in the rightnwing media to hate blacks and the black President. Think how many stories we've seen about law enforcement officers denigrating our President. I walked by a police car one day in my liberal SF and heard Sean Hannity spewing his venom from the car radio while they were on a break. There are a lot of closeted white racists with white hoods in their closet. I grew up across two racists who are both current SF cops. I asked my light skinned cousin who is also a police officer in SF about these two brothers and he got a funny look on his face and said let's talk about something else. I knew then and there he knew what they were all about.
