(14,733 posts)When I take that link, the other poster refers to it as a defense authorization bill, but when I take their link, I get to a page that shows a cloture vote on an amendment for
A bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to ensure that emergency services volunteers are not taken into account as employees under the shared responsibility requirements contained in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
That doesn't look like a bill to fully fund the MIC to me.

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=113&session=2&vote=00322
And it shows something entirely different that it refers to as HR 3979.

Here are the various titles it underwent:

The number doesn't change: H.R.3979

(14,733 posts)Is the entire point of changing the titles like that to trick lazy Congress folks into voting for things they normally wouldn't?

(32,077 posts)It is a way the Senate leadership gets around Senate rules in the last day or two of the session. They take a bill that has already had hearings in committees and passed out to the floor. They then take and wipe out the entire contents of the bill and substitute new language of a subject completely different from the original bill. That allows them to pass things at the last second without hearings. The leadership always have several shell bills waiting around for such a need.

(3,431 posts)You Clinton admirers will always make the claim, that if other
DUers don't agree with you they are searching for unicorns or
some such thing.
Two most important questions for my choice of a possible candidate
are fighting the economic oligarchs, and working against humanly
caused climate change. She is in those respects working for us.
However, should Bernie run as a Democrat he would get my vote.
He has not yet done so. Thus I will wait.

(30,439 posts)I've said time and time again that I wouldn't support her during the primaries if she does indeed run.
Try again....

(3,431 posts)I got that impression. Of course, I may be wrong.
Still, you may take my answer for general DUers, who show
very strong inclinations to protect the "inevitable.

don't now anymore how many wars and where, I don't
see it as a vote to support eternal wars.
Again, I could be wrong.

(I also hope UN pressure will end our love of torture. We deserve the hatred atm.)
