It's a truth that Du'ers have known for a long time, but is finally coming to the front of the line. It's about the "meeting in Prague" before the war. Levin is pressing Brennan for a cable that proves it was a bunch of hooey.

(31,849 posts)But I'm sensing a move among Democratic legislators towards doing what we want ... holding actors accountable for the war and the aftermath.
And on a slightly different matter, the republicans are not helping their case by challenging the "torture report" on the grounds that it did not talk to actors outside of the CIA. In fact, they seem to be, unwittingly, plowing the ground for a full investigation of who knew what and when.
Whether that "investigation" comes in the form of a Congressional hearing(s), a tribunal, or what, I don't know; but, it seems like republicans are chasing Democrats until Democrats catch them.
"You say the investigation was incomplete because it did not talk to anyone outside of the CIA? Fine, Mr. Chair, I call to the stand dick cheney!"

Remember how they held each others hands and refused to
testify under oath when it came to the 9/11 commission?
It's a nice dream, but that is all.

(31,849 posts)it is intuition.
But there is a difference between a sitting President and sitting VP refusing to testify under oath and a FORMER President and sitting VP. In the latter case, there is no constitutional crisis of the legislative branch attacking the executive branch.

(23,946 posts)As Levin stated :
"Now, why am I bringing up a CIA cable from more than a decade ago? Isnt this old, well-covered terrain? No, it isnt. This is about giving the American people a full account of the march to war as new information becomes available. It is about trying to hold leaders who misled the public accountable. It is about warning future leaders of this nation that they must not commit our sons and daughters to battle on the basis of false statements."
Bush and Company lies were also criminal acts.

(21,946 posts)Fallujah started immediately after the election when John Kerry "lost". He wanted to challenge Ohio but with the offensive in Fallujah, he would have been called unpatriotic when the country is in a huge battle in Iraq, and the way the ruling hunta behaved, it would have been screamed about beyond belief.
I firmly believe that's why he declined a challenge to the Ohio outcome.
