Wow, best quote I've heard so far regarding torture...

Just now on Chris Hayes' show, Steven Hawkins, the Executive Director of Amnesty International was asked about prosecution and he began his reply with this; "Accountability is not the same as acknowledging that it exists".

Nailed it.

Does this mean that even though we acknowledge torture exists, we know that holding someone accountable for it might not happen?

I am a bit confused!

Both Hawkins and Kenneth Roth, the CEO for Human Rights Watch were emphatic in their belief that prosecutions warranted and that there is more than sufficient evidence to move forward on prosecution.

Hope that clears it up a little.

But the simple truth of that statement just hit me very strongly. It was a great segment with those two.

Sleep well!
