High school teacher 'lined up terrified students and fired blanks at them' during class

High-school welding classes always carry a high risk of injury but last week one lesson took a bizarrely dangerous turn.

In an apparent attempt to get his students' attention one welding teacher lined up his class against a wall, pulled a gun from his waistband and fired multiple rounds of blanks.

The twelve students allegedly feared for their lives when Manuael Dillow fired off between four and ten rounds at them during a welding class.

My God.

Btw wonder why it's a Daily Mail article? Did the US media just not bother?

With all that teachers have been going through, this could be a melt down of sorts. The stress and pressure can get to you.

But I don't think those are even used anymore, at least not in high school events...Although at one time, every high school football/track coach/volunteer referee had one...

... attempted murder? When the round fired were blanks? Reckless endangerment, to be sure (since firing blanks can, depending on how close the gun was to the person being fired at, cause cause things like burn injuries), but attempted murder? No judge would allow such a charge, and no jury would ever convict on it under these circumstances.

The ironic part is, it was with one of many from his collection of confiscated billy clubs that the students made.

....I'm surprised no one shot him in self-defense? This makes my argument that the age for carry laws should be lowered to sixteen if we want our children to be safe....

I can just picture four students, from other classes, coming through four windows at once, all aiming at his center of mass.

is that blanks are hardly safe. If I loaded a pistol full of blanks (or a rifle or a musket, for that matter) and fired it at you from six feet away, you'd go to the hospital with severe burns from the flaming, yet unconsumed particles of gunpowder striking your skin faster than the speed of sound. If I held it to your head, you'd go to the morgue. This moron needs to go down for assault with a deadly weapon, minimum.

He held the gun to his head and pulled the trigger, probably thinking nothing would happen because it was a blank.

Did you read what some Virginia repuke's response was? Here is what a typical Virginia repuke said about the guy firing a gun at his son: 'I support Mr. Dillow 100-percent and my son and I will be in the court room when he goes to support him.'
