Massive nor'easter storm bringing rain, snow
A huge storm is brewing that could impact at least one-third of the nation, from Florida to Maine, and potentially as far west as Michigan
CBS News correspondent Terrell Brown reports that, because of the unusual timing, there are concerns it could be a re-run of a weather mess from just six months ago.
Last October, a surprise storm dumped record snow on the Northeast and left nearly 20 million people without power. That winter storm arrived in the fall. Now, there is a spring storm, just like it, taking aim at the northeast.
Both produced heavy wet snow and both happened at times when there are a lot of leaves on the trees, which will cause more weight on the trees and probably cause a lot of these trees to tumble down on top of power lines, and that is why there could be widespread power outages.
The storm system is expected to dump up to 4 to 6 inches of snow in Pittsburgh, up to 8 inches in Buffalo and more than 18 inches in Johnstown, Pa.

(14,881 posts)We desperately need the rain and I'm especially happy because I planted my sugar snap peas on Saturday with the new moon. My kludge-job trellis of baby sumacs lashed into tripods with wire mesh fencing is holding its own against the wind.
When I headed into the barn to feed my filly breakfast, she was missing. I called her name over the wind, and a scared/relieved/bug-eyed little face peeked out of the open stall door, and then she came out to greet me. She was hiding from the scary wind monsters behind her stall wall. The wall is about 5 feet high -- she was ducked down to make sure the monsters wouldn't find her if/when they broke into the barn. Heh. She barely made it into the aisle, and the sliding doors banged with a gust of wind and she spun and scooted back into hiding. Glad I didn't bring the dogs along. It was enough fun to try to clean her stall with her running back and forth and Polly-kitty trying to trip me.

(14,881 posts)Mine couldn't decide who was going to be under the blankets on the left side of the bed, so all night they traded places, until Luna wedged himself between us on top of the blankets. I don't understand why they fear the other side. I ended up, as usual, clinging to the edge of the bed.

Weird, weird weather.
