(179 posts)He says: "I believe in freedom of speech and have fought for it while serving my country."
How does one "fight for freedom of speech"? I wasn't aware it was in any danger since it was protected by the first amendment in 1791.

(86,775 posts)he wasn't able to carry a gun for this particular action? Some people hide behind their kids - "...you ruined my kids' vacation because they saw ____________ and you were there!"
A true FuxNooz fan whether they actually watch it or not.
I use LUSH products, have for over a decade (they were all over the planet long before they opened a single shop in the US.) and part of the reason I choose to buy from them is their activism. On occasion they have discontinued some of their products because one or more key ingredients were controversial in how they are made or raw materials procured. AND, for those who travel a lot, they make solid shampoos, not liquid so they are great for those who fly a lot, one little bar can last for months.
Love LUSH... this is yet another reason to.

(12,232 posts)The letter writer turned his own supposed principles to 'mush' by equating a peaceful protest with terrorism, even while noting his supposed support for free speech.
I'd venture that any fear his children felt was fear he and the mall engendered in them, first by a store lockdown, then by his attitude. From pictures elsewhere, there were children engaged in the protest and he could have taken an approach of pointing that out, calmly explaining to his children what the protest is about and why this is an important right and action of people here. Of course, then they might start to develop knowledge of history and views not aligned with his.
