CNN/ORC Poll: Bush surges to 2016 GOP frontrunner

Jeb Bush is the clear Republican presidential frontrunner, surging to the front of the potential GOP pack following his announcement that he's "actively exploring" a bid, a new CNN/ORC poll found.

He takes nearly one-quarter — 23% — of Republicans surveyed in the new nationwide poll, putting him 10 points ahead of his closest competitor, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who tallied 13%.

Physician Ben Carson comes in third, with 7% support, and Sen. Rand Paul and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee are both tied for fourth with 6%.

That marks a drop in support for all but Christie and Bush from the last CNN/ORC survey of the field, conducted in November.
That poll showed Bush in the lead, but only taking 14% of the vote, while Carson came in second with 11% and Christie tied Rep. Paul Ryan for fourth with 9% support.

Republicans sure aren't enamored with him, what with his last name being Bush.

Bush is the next president. I certainly don't like it but he can and will beat Hillary. Who I can't stand either. But that's beside the point.

9. Riiiiiigggghhht. I think this actually indicates early movement toward getting in line.

They always get in line. An individual state or two may go AWOL and throw some Houses races or the occasional Senate seat that should have been winnable but nationally for the Whitehouse, they have and will get in line.

Hell, I think that little movement is mostly out of steam, having done it's job of moving the entire political spectrum and especially the Republican party into a more regressive posture. I doubt we see many more general flipping loons as has helped greatly in keeping our fat out of the fire. Don't get too caught up in the last battles especially when counting on strategic blunders from the opposition as your plan for victory.

4. Right. A "ground swell", a "movement", but that has unpleasant associations.

Or more likely a paid political push poll.

The story is told of the power of gold
And its lure on the unsuspecting
It glitters and shines, it badgers and blinds
And constantly needs protecting

Balance the cost of the soul you lost
With the dreams you lightly sold
Are you under the power of gold?

The letters and calls got you climbing the walls
And everyone wants a favor
They beg to remind you of times left behind you
You know the past is a loser

The face you're wearing is different now
And the days run hot and cold
Are you under the power of gold? Power of gold

You're a creature of habit, run like a rabbit
Scared of a fear you can't name
Your own paranoia is looming before you
But nobody thinks that it's a game

Balance the cost of the soul you lost
With the dreams you lightly sold
Then tell me that you're free
Of the power of gold, power of gold, power of gold
