Republican Congressional hopeful praying for a miracle.

I know that some of you may be surprised to read that title. But a Republican really needs a miracle. I'm not talking a little miracle like a girl saying yes, she'll go out with him. I'm talking about a miracle of Biblical proportions. Something on the lines of turning water into wine. Not quite up to parting the Red Sea, but something pretty impressive none the less.

Daniel Donovan, the Staten Island district attorney who handled the Eric Garner chokehold case, said on Sunday he hopes Democrats won’t make the case an issue as he runs for a vacated congressional seat.

“I would hope that they would respect the fact that there was a man who died, a mother who lost her son and there’s a wife who lost her husband and some children who lost their dad,” Donovan said on a radio talk show hosted by the former mayoral candidate John Catsimatidis.

The Staten Island Republican party endorsed Donovan on Saturday as its nominee for the seat of disgraced ex-Representative Michael Grimm. Grimm resigned last month after pleading guilty to tax evasion.

Yes, you read that right. The Republican District Attorney who couldn't manage to eek out an indictment for a cop who used a prohibited technique to kill an unarmed black man from the Grand Jury which sparked protests nationwide hopes that the Democrats won't make an issue of the case during the campaign for the Congressional Seat.

I'm assuming that Daniel Donovan won't be running and bragging about his support from the Police, and the Union. I'm assuming that he'll remember that a man died, a family was left with a hole in it that can never be filled. No wait, this is a Republican. Nevermind.

We're not talking about a conviction, just the indictment that the DA couldn't manage. Somehow the evidence he presented justified the use of a prohibited tactic as shown clearly on a video as a man begged for his life.

Seriously, this man has done enough damage as District Attorney, the Democratic Party needs to make sure that whoever our candidate is, that s/he be thoroughly vetted and supported fully in the run for office. Obviously this one race won't win us a majority of anything. But it will prevent a man who has done inestimable damage from getting a more powerful office where he can do even more harm to the populace at large.

Oh, and one of his focus topics is strengthening anti-terrorism because you know, the cops don't have enough guns, tanks, and arms to choke people to death with.

Democrats, let's get busy and win this one. Keep Donovan from Congress.
