John Kerry heads to France amid criticism of Obama

Secretary of State John Kerry said on Monday he would travel to Paris this week to express solidarity with the victims of the Islamist militant attack on a satirical weekly newspaper.

On a visit to India, Kerry rebutted as "quibbling" criticism that the United States had not been represented by a more senior official at a million-strong remembrance march in the French capital on Sunday that was joined by world leaders.

Kerry said he would travel on Thursday and be in Paris for part of the day on Friday. Seventeen people were killed in three days of violence last week that started with a shooting attack on the Charlie Hebdo weekly.

The Paris march was attended by the top U.S. diplomat for Europe, Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, and the U.S. ambassador to France. "We have offered, from the first moment, our intel, our law enforcement and all of our efforts, and I really think that, you know, this is sort of quibbling a little bit," Kerry said, in response to a reporter's question.

CNN's front page says "Where was Obama"?

This is from the article:

"French President François Hollande's office also defended Obama. A senior official told CNN's Christiane Amanpour that the U.S. president has been "very present" since the attacks, noting that he was one of the first leaders to call Hollande last Wednesday."

The French leaders aren't even upset!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And we are sharing intelligence with the French and working with them to tell them what we know to help France hunt down the terrorists. ISN'T THAT WHAT THEY REALLY WANT?????????????? Do they want ACTUAL REAL HELP securing their country or do they want Obama there to make a token 30 minute appearance? And it isn't even like we stood the French up, we HAD official representatives from our government there!

They will blame Obama for ANYTHING to start a controversy. And the absolutely mindblowing thing is THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT ISN'T EVEN UPSET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is no ill will between the US and France over this SO WHY IS THE MEDIA TRYING TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THERE IS???????????????????

In Reply #1 Takit said: "They will blame Obama for ANYTHING to start a controversy." I agree with him.

It seems that some are angrier with Obama than they are with the terrorists. Makes no sense. Not only Obama, our whole country is incensed with anger towards the terrorists.

And I seriously doubt our that our government heads had anything to do these murders... ; so why all the blame on us? (If my President is blamed, so am I (solidarity))

Who is "they" anyway?

If Pres. Obama HAD gone, then she'd be complaining about

(1) Look at all the money his trip is costing us
(2) He's just doing for the photo-op
(3) There are enough problems back here that he SHOULD be dealing with
(4) ETC.
(5) ETC.
(6) ETC.

BTW, I wished every chief of state (including Hollande) had done like Obama and that the media had focused on the people and not on chiefs of states of countries who do not always respect freedom of speech in their own country.

That would be the headline on Fox News and CNN if Obama had gone there this weekend.
