Ben Carson Shilled For Notorious Company That Promoted Quack AIDS, Cancer Cures
Submitted by Brian Tashman on Monday, 1/12/2015 12:50 pm
As conservative activist Ben Carson mulls a presidential run, were not surprised to start seeing stories like this one from the National Review: Ben Carsons Troubling Connection. Jim Geraghty describes in detail the close ties between Carson and Mannatech, a medical supplement company that misleadingly markets its products to people with diseases such as Tay-Sachs, autism, non-Hodgkins lymphoma and ALS. At one point, the company even boasted of a miracle cure for AIDS and cancer. If Carson runs, he wont be the only 2016 Republican candidate with a record of boosting quack medical companies. Mike Huckabee once emailed his fans a sponsored message from a company promising remedies to Alzheimers and Parkinsons and another endorsing a biblical cancer cure from the Bible.

(145,338 posts)Ben Carson is just the latest in a series of fad candidates floated by the GOP. Remember Herman Cain? Carson has no chance of being the GOP nominee

(10,624 posts)Maybe he should just stick to doing that.
Of course, in my line of work, I often see doctors who seek out their own level of incompetence. Great physicians, lots of earnings potential in the medical field, but what they really want to do is manage their own Arby's franchise.

(34,076 posts)I didn't see anything in the article to suggest either has happened. Until one or both does, he is still a doctor. Like it or not.

(22,000 posts)Even though he is a vile human being he still earned the title doctor whether or not he is licensed to practice by virtue of his degree. The same thing will be true for me soon (although it will be academic not a medical doctor) when I finish my dissertation.

(34,076 posts)I expect you will not be a vile human being, so no one on DU will try to take your title away!
Hope to be shedding the ABD for Dr. by April.
