The Unsinkable Jerry Brown

The man who drove the snakes Republicans out of Sacramento.

Gov. Jerry Brown, sworn in Monday for a fourth and final term, called in his inaugural address for sweeping changes to fight climate change and for renewed spending on California’s aging infrastructure.

Two months after the Republican Party surged in a dismal midterm election for Democrats across the nation, Brown cast California as a lantern of liberal thought on policies ranging from the environment to health care and protections for undocumented immigrants.

Brown said he will seek to reduce petroleum use in cars by as much as 50 percent within 15 years, make heating fuels cleaner and increase to one-half from one-third the proportion of electricity California derives from renewable sources.

“We must demonstrate that reducing carbon is compatible with an abundant economy and human well-being,” Brown said in a 23-minute speech before a joint session of the Legislature.

the state around, and made it look easy. Extremely effective politician. So grateful a competent adult is back in charge.

I've always seen it as a parade: the GOP celebrating in a parade down a boulevard, with confetti falling all over them and trash left in the streets by those cheering them; and the Dems (left) sweeping up the empty streets.

Remember standing in line at my polling place listening to the dimwits behind me all excited about The Terminator becoming governor. They learned soon enough that Arnold was a clueless celebrity in over his head. We have to suffer through the Bushes and the Arnolds because people vote for the candidate they'd rather have a drink with --a piss poor way of choosing a leader.

the phrase "the Governator" would fill the halls—even in the graphics department where I worked.

One afternoon I was arguing with a regular employee about electing a dimwitted actor to governor; just then the manager of the plant walked by and gave me very dirty look (having overheard me). Within a week, I was being told I wasn't needed any longer.
Orange County.

This company would also send out emails before elections telling the best way to vote to keep job security (in so many words).

Love Jerry Brown. And just an aside... if Gilda Radner was still alive, bet she would look allot like First Lady Ann Brown.

never mind the historical record.
that evil mastermind Quan and her time machine lit up the 2003 port protest.
her influence extended to UC Davis, where pepper spraying hit new heights.
that mean old Mayor Quan!
