Why did READY FOR HILLARY use a moment of national unity like the SOTU Address to raise money for their candidate?

Oh, right...it wasn't Ready for Hillary. It was Democracy for America, raising money for THEIR candidate:

Wow. That might have been the most progressive State of the Union speech that President Obama has ever given.

Tonight, President Obama used his State of the Union to promote a number of unabashedly populist, progressive ideas, from cutting taxes for middle class families to giving workers more paid time off and making some college tuition-free.

"It’s now up to us to choose who we want to be over the next fifteen years, and for decades to come," he said. "Will we accept an economy where only a few of us do spectacularly well? Or will we commit ourselves to an economy that generates rising incomes and chances for everyone who makes the effort?"

Elizabeth Warren has been leading the charge on issues like income inequality and student debt for years. Now, finally, the rest of the Democratic Party -- and even the President -- seem to be catching up.

That's why Democracy for America, along with our friends at MoveOn, launched our Run Warren Run campaign. Because if Elizabeth Warren has this much influence over the Democratic Party agenda as a Senator, just imagine the progressive changes she could make happen as president.

We just kicked off our New Hampshire Run Warren Run campaign on Saturday. Now, we're organizing house parties across the country to begin laying the groundwork for a Warren candidacy. Will you chip in $3 to help fund them?

The President's speech tonight was a great reminder of the influence we can have when we fight for progressive values. DFA has been keeping up the pressure on the White House to move to the left on things like taxing the 1% and protecting the internet for years, and it's exciting to see that pressure translating into presidential positions we can get behind.

Earlier this month, 51,165 DFA members signed on in support of the President's bold proposal to make community colleges debt-free for everyone -- and asked him to take it even further. We want to keep fighting until existing debt gets addressed, too -- which is why we will soon be announcing an exciting new partnership that will take our campaign to fix the student debt crisis to a whole new level.

More than 70,000 DFA members signed a petition led by Robert Reich and Nick Hanauer calling on President Obama to expand overtime, and over 500 of you called the White House last week asking him to announce it in his speech. Obama mentioned the need to expand overtime benefits -- but he still has to issue the order to make it happen.

The speech had its shortcomings, of course. President Obama's request for trade promotion authority to pass the job-killing Trans-Pacific Partnership is tremendously disappointing. Previous trade deals haven't just failed lived up to the hype, they've cost Americans' jobs, destroyed communities, and ripped apart families. Elizabeth Warren opposes that bad trade deal -- another reason why we need her to run for president.

We believe that income inequality is the greatest crisis we face as a nation today, and we're thrilled to see the president proposing bold steps to address it. But President Obama won't be president for much longer.

We can't afford to go backwards: We need to make sure that we have a candidate in 2016 who will fight for working families, even when -- especially when -- that means making deep-pocketed Wall Street donors and corporations uncomfortable. We need Elizabeth Warren.

Our Run Warren Run field organizers are busy building the infrastructure Sen. Warren would need to run and win right now. Will you pitch in $3 to supercharge this campaign and expand our organizing efforts?

Thanks for being a part of our campaigns over the years. Tonight is proof that together, we can change the conversation and make the Democratic Party more progressive.

Still time to work wonders and have someone to carry on the good and hard work Obama has accomplished so far under such extraordinary harsh circumstances. It would be a shame to flush that all down the toilet and leave it all to incompetents.

Do they really think they can bandwagon the President with Warren? Warren's biggest supporters are Obama detractors!

But Obama just laid the foundation for a Democratic Party that can achieve greatness. And anyone that is a candidate that distances themselves from Obama will ultimately be unable to channel Obama's achievements.

Given Obama's unwavering stance on TPP it's unlikely he'd be endorsing Warren any time soon.

M --

Tonight, Barack will give a State of the Union address to the last Congress he'll serve with -- and it's gonna be good.

You'll want to tune in.

Everything the President proposes tonight is ambitious, but doable -- like two years of free community college for everyone who will go there and work hard, better high speed internet access for more Americans, making homeownership more accessible and affordable, and more of the things we've always wanted to achieve.

So keep this email on hand while you watch, and if you're feeling fired up to go make these things happen, just chip in.
