CNN's Wolf Blitzer, water carrier for the GOP, whines that Obama issued too many veto threats

While discussing President Barack Obama‘s State of the Union address, CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer noticed that the president issued a lot of veto threats in his speech — more than he could ever recall.

Blitzer and fellow CNN anchor Jake Tapper discussed the various veto threats against bills that the new Republican Congress would likely pass, including changing the Affordable Care Act, unraveling the Dodd-Frank Wall Street regulations, blocking the president’s executive actions on immigration reform, and imposing new sanctions on Iran.

“I don’t know about you, Jake, I don’t remember a State of the Union address where I heard a president issue so many veto threats to the Republican majority, to the opposite party in the United States Congress,” Blitzer said.

Tapper noted, though, how a handful of Democrats also support Iran sanctions. Needless to say, vetoes are to be expected from a Democratic president when working with a Republican-controlled Senate and House of Representatives.
