Jay Leno on Bill Cosby: 'I don't know why it's so hard to believe women'

Jay Leno left no doubt where he stands on the Bill Cosby controversy with his remarks during a Q&A session at the NATPE conference on Wednesday.

"I don't know why it's so hard to believe women," Leno told comedian Tom Papa, who moderated the conversation. "You to go Saudi Arabia and you need two women to testify against a man. Here you need 25."

Leno noted that the Cosby scandal was driven by a viral video made by comedian Hannibal Buress. He cited that as an example of how news and information is getting out unfiltered these days, which he said was a good thing.

Buress "made a flat-out statement that reverberated around the world," Leno said. "On any other media that would have been edited. People are getting news unfiltered now."

a diverse collection of women with claims covering 5 decades of assaults and rapes and druggings, with police reports in 2000 and 2005, and an out of court settlement in 2006 when 13 Jane Does were willing to testify, mostly to his method of drugging and raping described in the case at hand in that settlement.

Throw that in with the fact that the people who know him best, this 50 year giant in the industry worth 400 million dollars, are all silent at what should be the shocking accusation of a lifetime, "Bill Cosby as a lifelong, serial rapist", and it starts to look a little like he just might be guilty, you think?

He's a "republican".

So, we learned last week when Leno rendered an opinion on Hillary Clinton's lack of 'fire in the belly' for a presidential run.

"Jay is a rethug, so OF COURSE he's wrong."

"Jay does not have credibility."

I think Leno is a totally hack comedian, who nevertheless once in a while is right as he is here.

Women feel embarrassed, and don't want to be the targets of ridicule, derision, or simply, "You're lying to get attention. It didn't happen." It takes courage to speak out and say "I was raped or sexually assaulted."

And it is oftentimes ignored by the police and prosecutors. So that's what civil suits are for, when the criminal system doesn't go after sexual offenders.

I'm a woman. I know that sexual harassment, sexual assault and rape are things we have names for and are speaking out about. When we didn't have names for those acts decades ago, we thought of it as annoying and stupid shit that a few men do to women.
