It's sad, but Holocaust Denial is not exclusive to the anti-semites. It also exists amongst the anti-LGBT bigots.
There is a pernicious group of Holocaust Deniers who claim that the Third Reich was rampant with homosexuality. Nothing could be further from the truth. The pink triangle was as much a death sentence as the yellow Star of David. The only difference is the number of people murdered because of the pink triangle ranged in the thousands while the number of people murdered because of the yellow Star of David was in the millions. LGBT people quickly learned to hide their sexuality, Jewish people could not hide their ancestry.
I give you the source cited by these Holocaust Deniers:

The next time you hear anybody say, "you know, homosexuals were powerful during the reign of the Nazis." The only counter can be "I would have never taken you as a bigoted Holocaust Denier."

(5,946 posts)He thought the story of my grandfathers second wife having to serve Nazi's at a concentration camp when she was 16 could not be true. I saw her tattoos and she was a blonde blue eyed 16 year old at the time. She still had some beauty the years later when I met her for the first time.

(5,946 posts)Maybe there is something wrong in education that people just don't know this stuff. It was all there in the books, is this kind of stuff gone from the texts or are people just not taught about it anymore - the dentist was 20 years younger than me, but still???

(41,694 posts)The two largest groups containing prisoners in the camps, both numbering in the millions, were the Polish Jews and the Soviet prisoners of war (POWs) held without trial or judicial process. There were also large numbers of Roma (or Gypsies), ethnic Poles, Serbs, political prisoners, homosexuals, people with disabilities, Jehovah's Witnesses, Catholic clergy, Eastern European intellectuals and others (including common criminals, as declared by the Nazis). In addition, a small number of Western Allied aviators were sent to concentration camps as spies.[19] Western Allied POWs who were Jews, or whom the Nazis believed to be Jewish, were usually sent to ordinary POW camps; however, a small number were sent to concentration camps under antisemitic policies.

Yes, the majority were JEwish people, but millions of other victims were murdered as well under the Third Reich ideal of genetic purity.

(53,959 posts)I was familiar with it in the late 80's. It still doesn't even rise to the "popularity" of the traditional Holocaust denials, including the "Jews/Zionists" were responsible." It is a form of blame shifting to the victims; it is a version of the "short skirt/sexual past defense" used against rape survivors.
The other reason this tripe is used is the same reason the "Jews/Zionists did it" is used and that is to further demonstrate how evil these people really are. It boils down to: "see, if they would do this to their own kind, think what they are doing to us?! Cui bono?!" It is the ultimate use of historical facts in a way which creates a conspiracy theory defaming the actual victims and to prove how they are actually guilty and how the perpetrators are actual the victims of these evil doers.
Jews were abused by other non-Jewish prisoners and wore triangles slightly larger than others so they were easier to identify. Guess which other group faced the same abuse and over-sized triangles? Hint: It is in my avatar.
