A case of measles reported in the Omaha area last week is part of an outbreak linked to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure in California.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the California Department of Public Health list the case reported by Douglas County and Three Rivers health departments on Jan. 21 as having an epidemiological link to others associated with the Disney properties.

A case of measles in a Lancaster County preschool child, also reported last week, appears not to be connected, according to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

The outbreak centered in California continued to expand, with officials now confirming 78 cases in seven states and Mexico.

Exposing them to dangerous viruses rather than vaccinating is, IMO, child abuse.
