Why everyone loves Sarah Palin

ref: http://dyn.politico.com/printstory.cfm?uuid=C1F5F8DC-18FE-70B2-A81430A8C754FA08

Sarah Palin is a one-ring circus that packs them in and raises money for the GOP.

... The hope among GOP elites is that she’ll keep annoying liberals, raise money for the party — and stay out of the 2012 sweepstakes.

... The bitter pill to swallow is that the Palin obsession says as much about the modern media as it does about the state of American politics right now: We just can’t quit her.

The fact is, she’s a draw. The left loves to mock her, the right rushes to defend her and folks in between seem to be fascinated by the whole spectacle. We see it at POLITICO. Whenever there is a Palin story or blog post — and, yes, there have been many — the comments pile up in a way that they do on almost no other topic.

... When Palin kicked off her book tour with an appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s show — a program that never has trouble attracting an audience — the former governor delivered the Queen of Talk her highest ratings in two years. When Palin made her debut as a Fox News analyst last month on “The O’Reilly Factor,” the cable network got 3.9 million viewers — demolishing the competition. And about that speech at the tea party convention? The ratings were nearly double what Fox usually draws for a Saturday evening.

She's the Right's trained monkey, the GOPs court jester, the slapstick buffoon who is there to provide comic relief. And the GOP is laughing all the way to the bank.

I am not sure this is going to work anymore. She was so unhinged the last time she spoke that some in the gop were already questioning her relevance.

There for the grace of God that could be me. She is wonderful advertisement for Republicans and their total lack of moral values and intellectual reflection.

Purely anecdotal, but over the years I have yet to meet a conservative ( except one ) that thinks of her as a useful idiot ( my term for the dynamic of the 1st bullet point in the OP ) of sorts. Every one honestly and truly thinks she's plenty smart/lucid and qualified enough to run the country. They really really do.

They offer no specifics, and when they do try they're easily rebutted; at which time they'll angrily ( and I do mean angrily ) go for their comfort zone redoubts and defend their single issue cause. Guns is a big one.

I think it's the big words she uses, even if they're malapropisms, or are used incorrectly or out of context. She is indeed, what stupid people think smart people sound like.

just last weekend some of us were doubled over laughing at a clown who started complaining about Obama and us "Communists" and eventually went on to defend Palin and Bachmann.

Everything he said was standard sound bite, and everything we said went over his head. It's like he was having a religious experience.

She DOESN'T raise money for the Party. She raises money for her own PAC and then keeps it.

But speaking for myself, I love to poke fun at her.

If she were a bland non-entity then there'd be no fun in it, but since she is so blatantly, and so flamboyantly incompetent, I love her in the same way I love Plan Nine From Outer Space.

I do not find her amusing.

I think she is an embarrassment and has caused great harm to this country.

McCain should be punished for bringing her into the national political arena.

Thanks for your reply and input.

Have a safe and pleasant day.
