They are so irate about ANWR (phony outrage for distraction) they are now threatening Obama and I don't think it is funny...
These are seriously the biggest idiots ever, passing legislation that now has alaska giving 100 million to oil companies instead of making profit this year (seriously) causing a 3.5 Billion deficit for the first time ever. Alaskan's are pissed so the legislature is creating this ridiculous distraction.
But now they have gone too far.
Alaska lawmaker hits Obama and the feds with nursery rhyme
Just one more thing before I go,
Theres something, Uncle, you should know.

Remember, the 'moral' of the story is that you don't know what you like until you try it, and at the end of the book everyone LOVES green eggs and ham!
That is what I just wrote up thread. They can sound out the words but have no idea what they mean when strung together in a sentence. They miss the moral of the story every time.

McGuire blamed for ruckus on airplane
Posted: Thursday, September 18, 2008
ANCHORAGE - State Sen. Lesil McGuire caused a disturbance on an Alaska Airlines flight, including throwing a glass of water when flight attendants refused to serve her alcohol, authorities said.
An Anchorage airport police report of the Sept. 4 incident says the Anchorage Republican also continued using her BlackBerry after being asked to turn it off in preparation of the flight from Juneau to Anchorage. According to the report, McGuire continued texting, prompting the pilot to stop the plane as it was taxiing.
Witnesses told police McGuire was rude, used profanity, bad-mouthed the pilots and caused further delay by getting out of her seat.
She was escorted through the airport by police for questioning. In the recorded police interview, McGuire repeatedly said she did nothing wrong. She said she was unfairly targeted by a flight attendant.

If you read the comments there you will see that all Alaskans are not idiots, and are demanding they do something about the budget.
Which is why they are creating this ANWR distraction.
But even if they think this poem is funny, there are a lot of gun nuts that are really stupid that might actually follow through on their threats.
Considering the climate of trigger happy idiots that we are already dealing with in this country, this is incredibly inappropriate.
They have a responsibility to not act like complete fucking morons in public.

He was a practicing Buddhist, but also, unfortunately, a bit of a mental case.

Until the oilies leave, I fear we're just going to be stuck with crazy Republican rule. Frankly, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they closed down their operations tomorrow. A lot of people would leave, but people who truly love this place would stay and find ways to create new revenue streams. As for energy, it's not like we don't have almost unlimited sources of renewables.

The FBI threw a bunch of ,well they actually called themselves "The Corrupt Bastards Club" (Ted Stevens included) in prison just a few years ago.
Now several of the same players not caught last time, and some newly hired..are at it again.
This is the perfect way to get the FBI again interested considering they are now physically threatening the president.
Anyone know someone in the FBI they could pass this on to?

I never voted for her, of course, but she was nowhere near as batshit crazy in the early 2000s as she is now. I don't know if she's on something or has had a mental break of some sort, but Alaskans can't really take the fall for pushing her out onto the national stage. I really do believe we could have "contained her" if McCain hadn't intervened. The oil companies and corporate Republicans hated her guts, and I've often wondered if McCain's decision wasn't influenced by certain sectors wanting to get her out of the state. Her successor, the truly abominable Sean Parnell, is the one responsible for SB21 which has resulted in the state paying the oil companies more in incentives than they're giving back in revenue.

(46,436 posts)in conjunction with our (then) bipartisan majority in the legislature. The law was called ACES, Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share. The law allowed Alaska to ride out the recession relatively unscathed. Sean Parnell appeared to support it as he finished up her term, but as soon as he won his first full term, he took steps to repeal the law and replace it with our current system which has resulted in the state paying more in incentives to Big Oil than it's taking in in revenue. Before he became lieutenant governor, he had been a lobbyist for ConocoPhillips and he was also an attorney with the law firm that represented EXXON during the spill litigation. He is a member of Club for Growth and ALEC. He was so bad as governor that a lot of people here said that they missed Sarah (at least OLD Sarah), as hard as that is to believe.
Sean lost his re-election bid in November, and we now have an Independent (formerly Republican) governor and Democratic Alaska Native lieutenant. They're still pro-development, but I imagine they'll be seeking some changes to the tax scheme.

(12,674 posts)These republicans who think they're all bootstrap-slinging frontiersmen ought to take stock of where they would be without their dear old Uncle Sam subsidizing much of their infrastructure and comfort. Do they really think the Oil Companies will continue to be their "good buddies" if they toss out the federal government because Washington wants them to "keep their room clean" and maybe not spend all their natural resources on drillers who will trash the place taking as many short-cuts as they can; and then run once the profit margin dips too low? Not to mention the potential additional damage to the environment and increase in climate instability once they start destroying the tundra in their greed for what's under it. Significant amounts of methane released into the atmosphere is not a good thing for the earth in general.
ANWR will still be there a hundred years from now if they don't spoil it now for a quick buck. And if the Alaska corporatists think that Oil is still the future for the state, then they really need to get their heads out of the 20th century.
Too many people who didn't read their bible very well believe this is the end times, and think that God gave them the right to, as Prince said "Party like it's 1999"...or they don't care about anything much beyond the next quarterly profit report.

(46,436 posts)It's been pretty well publicized here. Anchorage has had quite a run of gun-related murders the last couple of weeks, presumably drug- and gang-related. Our cops have been fairly laid back, but they sounded pretty serious about enforcing warrants and so on on the news last night. I just hope they don't go nuts like cops in other cities have.

(42,748 posts)As has been pointed out countless times on this board, "treason" is, under the US Constitution, a very narrowly defined crime that would not encompass threatening the President. However, threatening the President IS a crime (18 USC 871), albeit a much less serious one than treason under the law. (Treason is punishable by a minimum of five years in prison; threatening the President is punishable by a maximum of five years in prison).
I would expect (and hope) that the author of this little bit of tripe will get a call from the Secret Service. But I'm also pretty sure that there will be no prosecution. The courts (including the Supreme Court in the 1969 case of Watts v. US) have found that a distinction must be drawn between true threats and political hyperbole. (The majority in the 5-4 decision consisted of Warren, Marshall, Black, Douglas, and Brennan).
Cleita
(75,480 posts)should be. Maybe some Constitutional lawyer has the answer.
onenote
(42,748 posts)As I said, threatening the president is not and never has been prosecuted as an act of treason in the United States, nor could it be under the narrow definition of treason in the Constitution.
It is a federal crime (and has been been since 1917). However, drawing the line between what is and is not a true threat is often difficult. Thousands of potential threats are issued against the President every year. Most are investigated, but only a relative few are prosecuted as true threats. While the results are so varied as to make predictions somewhat difficult, this particular example probably would be treated as political hyperbole and not prosecuted. (In Watts v. US, the Supreme Court case I mentioned, the accused (who was 18 at the time) was participating in a public rally on the Washington Monument grounds. During a discussion amongst a group of participants in the rally, one member of the group suggested that the young people present should get more education before expressing their views. The accused responded by saying, "They always holler at us to get an education. And now I have already received my draft classification as 1-A and I have got to report for my physical this Monday coming. I am not going. If they ever make me carry a rifle the first man I want to get in my sights is L.B.J."
The Supreme Court found that this was political hyperbole and not a true threat.
Again, there are other cases where a true threat has been found that are difficult to distinguish. But all things considered, I suspect the authorities will not seek to prosecute anyone in Alaska for their stupid poem.

So, in that case it seems to mean spicy or spicy hot (how I interpret it). Most dictionaries online say it means carrying a gun. My question is what does "packing heat" mean as it was intended by the lawmaker?
Are you, the OP, saying Alaska is dumping oil on the market? Maybe that's what the lawmaker meant. Going to war against solar and renewables and clean energy, which President Obama has greatly supported.
