(60,536 posts)will you speak out against her on DU and then leave DU?
To make it clear: I'm not advocating or campaigning for Hillary. I've seen enough DU'ers making statements similar to yours, and I'm aware of the DU TOS, to wonder what happens and where will Hillary's opposition go if she gets the nomination

(50,414 posts)I have the archaic notion that my vote belongs to me. Not to DU, or any party, or any politician. And, this being a political discussion board I will not hesitate to discuss politics and issues.

(2,992 posts)So if we dint like HRC are we supposed to leave DU? Btw what were the TOS when DUers lashed out at Kerry using almist RW worst slogans folliwing the 2004 "loss" ( stealing Ohio)? Were they also asked to leave? Tierra is right. Anyone is free to express his wiews . That in not any way does make hum a "bad Dem" or a "RW troll".

(60,536 posts)I began writing a response about my understanding of TOS and realized, why not just post it? So, here it is:

Vote for Democrats.
...But when general election season begins, DU members must support Democratic nominees (EXCEPT in rare cases where were a non-Democrat is most likely to defeat the conservative alternative, or where there is no possibility of splitting the liberal vote and inadvertently throwing the election to the conservative alternative). For presidential contests, election season begins when both major-party nominees become clear. For non-presidential contests, election season begins on Labor Day. Everyone here on DU needs to work together to elect more Democrats and fewer Republicans to all levels of American government. If If you are bashing, trashing, undermining, or depressing turnout for our candidates during election season, we'll assume you are rooting for the other side.

I've been told "if you are bashing, trashing, undermining, or depressing turnout for our candidates during election season, we'll assume you are rooting for the other side" and membership in DU is terminated.
As to your question regarding attitudes toward John Kerry [i]after the loss in 2004, I wasn't here then, but; that bashing was okay because it was after the election. That's the way I read the TOS, could be wrong though.

(2,992 posts)Anyway so..... people are still free to vote or no for the nominee... most of DUers will do.
But they are free to criticize her stands isnt it?
I mean. She is NOT yet the nominee. Primary season is not open yet. So why a lot of people , not here only, but in the media, in all political structures of every aisle act like if her nomination is already wrapped up?
DonViejo
(60,536 posts)until the General Election season begins; that's my understanding.

(32,046 posts)The signed a letter encouraging her to run. That is not an endorsement. Elizabeth Warren has had plenty of opportunities to endorse Clinton when she has been asked if she is running. While saying she has no plans to run, she has not endorsed Clinton in her answers.

(94,666 posts)...who openly called on someone else to run for President, and didn't end up formally endorsing them?

(94,666 posts)In any event, you're evading the question. They (publicly or not) asked her to run for President. Why would you assume that wouldn't involve support for her actual campaign?

(11,785 posts)Saying, "I think you should run," isn't the same thing as saying, "You're the only person on the planet who could possibly do this job." We don't even know why people signed this letter, nor how willingly they did it. Some may have chosen to sign the letter because they calculated the blowback from not signing would be more problematic than the blowback from not signing it.
I don't really care who signed it, or why. Those people aren't casting this vote in my behalf.

(94,666 posts)You're last line ("I don't care" is perfectly appropriate, but denying political reality is not. Name any politician who has reached out to multiple individuals encouraging them to run for President. It doesn't happen.

(94,666 posts)"All all of the women Democratic women I should say of the Senate urged Hillary Clinton to run, and I hope she does. Hillary is terrific," Warren said during an interview broadcast Sunday on ABC's "This Week," noting that she was one of several senators to sign a letter urging Clinton to run in 2016.

Boy, who would want support like that?
